Couple bad beats

Posted Mon Aug 30, 2004 6:11 pm GMT by jeffo
Hey guys, im new to the board, so i thought id share a couple of my worst beats to kick things off Wink

First one, im sitting with pocket aces on the big blind... almost goes around the table, the button doubles the blind... at this point, there were quite a few people in the hand, so instead of trying to slow play them, right there i all in for 20 odd dollars to see if anyone would bite, surely the original raiser did.

He calls with pocket 4's... right there, i thought it was a lock.
But no...
the board comes down, and in this order... 2 3 5 6 7
unbelievable... i mean, ok catch a 4, and take my aces down with a set, but what is that?

and the other one, which made me put online poker on a break came a couple days ago.

I was sitting with a/8 mixed, i decided to make a run for the pot and take it from the get go. The blinds come around to me and i raise decent, i get 4 callers.

Flop comes down 8 8 2.
I open up the bet with 2 dollars, one person raises me 14... i sit on it for a bit (the others folded) then i move all in for 60. He calls without hesitation , then the board reads 9 9 .. for 8 8 2 9 9... he was sitting on pocket 9's.. now i know he only needed one to take me down, but both? what are the odds of that? 2% if that?

anyway, hi everyone ! Smile
