Hi!
I was wondering if anyone had any insight into starting up a business like a pool hall, except having poker tables instead of pool tables. You could rent the chips/accessories by the hour, and have leagues each night with sponsored prizes. Obviously no money games (at least that WE would be aware of ) would be allowed. I live in Canada and am unsure of any legal issues.
Thanks for your help!
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com

varies from state to state.
i've actually thought about this, here in Oregon, but those damned legislators are darned snappy when it comes to writing laws.
as for oregon, the VERY nifty idea of renting chips and table space for people to run an otherwise "social" game (which is what it's called when you have a home game at your house) is NOT legal. why? because you, as the hall owner, are profiting as a result of the gaming. indeed i believe the oregon civil code actualy makes mention of equipment rental. lol. they didn't leave any doors open as far as i could tell.
keep us posted though. if there's a loop hole, i'm interested in starting one myself!!
