I might be holding my first ring game at my home soon, but need clarification about what happens when a player misses a blind. If the game has been going on for a while (a few times around the table) and someone sits out for a few minutes, missing either the small or big blind, do they have to post a big blind amount to come back in, or wait for the big blind? Please clarify for me how one deals with this situation in a home game.
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com

I think that normally they post the big blind. However in our home games we never worry about this. The reason for the posting of the blind is to prevent abuse by players. If none of you and your friends are going to abuse it than there isn't much point.

Casinos will usually require you to post a big and small blind. The small blind goes directly into the pot (so it is not a bet that needs to be called).
