I am sure there is an actual answer, i suspect it is the person who has been called. as in i put my money in to see what you have so you should be the one to show first. Altho i aint sure who would if both check the river, probably the first player after the button.
BUT
Does it really matter?
Just turn over the cards already!

The person that bet first (or re-raised) has to show their cards first.
Person A checks, Person B bets 50, Person C raises to 100, Person A calls the 100 and Person B calls the 100. Person C has to show first.

Correct, if the pot has been bet or raised. If it hasn't then it's the first person on the left of the dealer.

EXACTLY!!!!
Im sick of going to the casino and have people wait so long to flip over their cards the dealer actually has to give them a warning. "flip em now or they are folded"
This happens way too much. If you wait your cards arent going to get any better.

As has been posted. The last person to bet, not call, but place a bet (i.e. bet or raise or re-raise or re-re-raise or re-re-re-raise, etc.) flips over first.

Also, if there is a side pot then it is settled first.
So the people involved in the side pot flip their cards in the proper order, then if the person all-in wants the main pot they show after the side pot has been awarded.
I often see people get this wrong.

Does it really matter? Is there any advantage to fliping over your cards last? If you have the best hand you will win, correct?

The advantage comes in not having to show if you lost. Leaves a bit of mystery.
Whether you have to show or can be asked to is another series of threads somewhere in the forum.

so the last person to bet (or the small blind) has to show first. who else HAS to show? anybody who beat the first to show obviously has an interest in showing to claim the pot...does it just proceed clockwise?
