I was in this tournament last weekend and it was down to the final table. I was short stacked because the other players were rebuying left and right, origionally there was supposed to be a rebuy limit but when the tournament started the guy holding the tournament cancelled the rule (because he busted out 3 times in the first 20 minutes, once to me ).
I'm pretty poor and wanted to see how far I could get without a rebuy so I never got one, but I was the only one who didn't and others had made as many as 6 rebuys!
Anyways, I held 88 the guy across the table went all in after I had already called a big raise from a player to the right of me. The All-in guy had been bluffing all day and I figured he was just making the move because he was shortstacked (a little less than me). I figured he would make the move with anything QT or better. The big raiser called and it got to me.
At this point I figured I had to go all-in because I had already called off 1/3 of my chips to the original raise (which I did because I figured the guy had a high unpaired hand probably not suited, and I knew no one else would call because everyone was playing pretty tight). Since I figured both players for unpaird hands, I just had to call and hope neither person paired. It was probably a bad call but I was low on chips and tripling up would get me back into the game.
I called. The raisor turned over AJ, exactly what I thought he had. The all in turned over.... POCKET QUEENS!!! I was about to walk out the door. I thought there was no way he could have had that with the way he was acting.
Flop - 2 10 5 Turn - 8!!!!!!!! River - hell I don't remember
I was back in it and caught a couple more breaks to come in 4th. I would have done even better but I made a big mistake twice against an agressive player directly to my left to the same outcome, the second time for all my chips.
The point of all this? Texas Hold-em is the greatest game on earth.

Amen to that I'm starting to believe it again now that I've actually found some shit hot UK action at last which I'll be attending often in the new year if I can pass my driving test which is on New Year's Eve!! I need 2 b able to drive as the games are 50 miles away and go on late into the nite so trains are out the question.

Geno, you say on this thread that you have found some shit hot UK action, 50 miles away from where you are. Just wondering where that might be as I live in Hertfordshire, which could conceivably be 50 miles away from Surrey (depends where in Surrey of course). I don't have any local action at all, I play the odd tournament in the casino in Luton but aside from that the only games I get are with my mates from university and they all live in the midlands which is not ideal.

Christ - not many replies on this forum!
Let me know about the hot UK action, as I'm in Reading, and the casino there got rid of the card room a couple of years ago. Have never played in a casino, just home games and online, but would love to. I have an application in the post to Grosvenor on the Edgeware Road, still waiting...
Let me know, either of you
