Playing in a $5 MTT tourney. Down to about 30 people left. Top 20 pays. I'm in about 23 place at this point.
I keep telling myself, "Don't do anything stupid and you'll make it to the money."
Then, this happens:

If this was your objective, to make the money, and yeah i understand that this should be everyones first objective in a tourney, then you have to be aware that AA, altho the best starting hand is not a guaranteed win, 1/5 of the time it should get cracked.
I feel your pain tho, this is a horrible beat, the last thing you want to see when you're all in with AA is another pp, and this is what happens most times at this stage of a tourney, what you want to see is AK or something, with a pp only 1 card needs to hit to bust you.
Small consolation, but at least you got your money in with the best hand, rather than doing something stupid
Tough beat at that stage

wow, that stinks. You almost caught a flush too!
While on the subject of MTT's, I was in a $3 one yesterday and about halfway through I saw three people go all in on the same hand. I was stunned when I saw AA, KK, QQ get flipped over. If it makes you feel any better, the Aces held up.

Cashing wasn't my only objective, it was just my short term goal at that moment, especially being short stacked like I was.
I really just wanted the blinds; wasn't looking for a showdown.
I don't blame the guy though. I would have done the exact same thing in his shoes.

Id rather loose to K,K then K,4 suited or something else crappy that should not call an all in. The guy with kings had a reason to be there and he just got lucky. Tough beat but there was not much you could have done differently.

If it makes you feel any better..
You know whats worse than finishing short of the money? Finishing one place short of the final table.
The other night, I was playing a $100 MTT. 11 players left and I get dealt Ah Ad UTG. I was tied for the chip lead with some maniac who was making every wrong call possible but still cleaning people out. So, from this position I just flat call, hoping the maniac who was the button would raise me. And guess what: he moves all in! Everyone folds and I call. He flips over Ac Kd... At this point, I was happier than a teenager losing his virginity. The flop:
Qd 7s 6d
Nothing terrible right?
Turn: Td
The last card I wanted to see even though it gives me the nut flush draw.
And of course, the inevitable river: Jc
Pocket Aces in a shorthanded game versus AK? What more could you possibly want? So even though I still made a decent profit, it sure as hell did not make up for the enormous chip lead I would have had with first place paying out 8.5k

First you say finishing one short of the final table is worse than finishing out of the money. Then you say you made a decent profit. I think finishing out of the money is far worse than making a decent profit.

That would be true in the general sense. Of course, I was referring to the situation in terms of relativity.
