Post Your Custom Chip Pics Here

Posted Mon Oct 04, 2004 8:45 am GMT by tabascojrc
Seems like anytime someone starts talking about their chips someone else starts asking to see some pics. Well Only problem is everybody's pics are spread out over tons of different threads. So I thought I'd Start a SINGLE thread to collect everyone's pictures. I'd post mine but I haven't gotten them yet.

So let's see them,

ps This may workbest if its a sticky or something. But I'll leave that up to the mods.

Genuine Chipco, personal design, drawn up at Chipco. Part of a group buy, for .76 per chip plus art. I kept 1500 of this 7200 order. The rest went to members of this board and 2+2's board.

I do not plan to reorder at this time, mainly because Chipco upped their price to $1.10 per chip. I will add a $.25, $1,000, and a $5,000 in the future. At that time, I will let everyone know, and you may be able to buy-in on the entire set.

The history and future of this order: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Number=911045&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1#911045

They are Chipco Pro-Tech chips, 10g in weight, made from ceramic composite. The same exact chips you find in many casinos throughout the world.

How do you like them?

Posted Mon Oct 18, 2004 5:16 pm GMT by sfreelance2000
I love'em. Cant wait to get the rest of them!

They feel good, play good and stack good. All the graphics are centered properly. The colors are nice. Right now I give them a 95 out of 100. They will get the full 100 when I get my back ordered chips Smile

I spent weeks comparing all the chips I could get my hands on. Which was pretty much all kinds. I found that these were the best in every way. Yes a little on the expensive side, but I was planning on spending a good amount for good chips. And I love the color/size of the edge spots.

I put these guys top. The Paulsons are great too I had some samples of those from the Foxwoods casino near me. But the Paulsons are harder to get if you dont like dealing with eBay. Which I dont.

So these are the best in my opinion.

I got the final shipment of my Nevada Jacks Martini Clubs today. By far the best chip I have ever used. Love they way they work, feel, and splash. No complaints with the service. They shipped a back ordered set very quickly.

All in all I give them an A. If youve got the money then these should be at the top of your list!

And no I dont work for them.

The Finnegan Club Chips

Hopefully the link will work as I'm about to exceed my measly webspace Sad

I ordered these thru homepokerchips.com and had an excellent experience in both design help and service. Dave seems like a great guy and Patrick the designer has a good eye for what works & what doesn't. I highly recommend them.

The cost was $1.20/chip to my door i.e. after art/setup/fees etc... for 1000 chips Shocked ... I try not to think about the cost and it's easy to do as the chips came out great IMHO! :D

Wow Fins, very nice chips!!! I really like the way they look. Just because I'm curious, how much of the design did you already have (in your head or on paper) before you started working with the Graphics folks?

Posted Mon Dec 13, 2004 9:51 pm GMT by Iron Butt
Nice chips. FYI couldn't view the pics until I dug around in your code a little and replaced the back slashes () in the image pathing with forward slashes.

Yeah Fins, other's had problems using third-party browsers. I guess IE auto-corrected it for the rest of us.

Thanks lopez!
Good question. A good part of it but it needed alot of work with regard to the details (e.g. fonts, colors, text wording, size etc...). The small details can make a big imapct on the design... not my forte. Here's what I did up in photoshop & sent them:

I had seen some customs that used that wrapping and really liked the look so I based my design on those. The design started off with a finnegan club that was based on a 4-leaf clover but I couldn't get the 'f' to look right as the stem so I went with a regular club. I wanted a center graphic similar to the chips I liked. The problem I had with the design was it seemed a little plain which wasn't necessarily bad but just seemed to need something. In talking with Patrick he suggested a sun burst to add some interest and afterlooking thru their custom chips I liked a ray pattern on another chip a little better. Throughout the design process I sent Patrick several files of design thoughts or examples of aspects I liked. One pic was of a Palms chip which used a playing card graphic one shade off as a background. I sent in real rough drafts of both using the card graphic as a backdrop and incorporated in the club. Luckily Patrick had some playing card vector graphics or we may not have gone that route. Basically through a lot of discussion and exchanging ideas we came up with the final design. Patrick was real patient and keep the design on track as far as always progressing forward to a final design. FWIW... I knew what I wanted goining in which was a proof as close as possible to the art I submitted and one or two jazzed up versions. I thought it helped to send him mockups for opinions/ideas etc... I'd rather spend my free time doing time consuming mock ups and save his for the only the most promissing suggestions. In reality considering the time that's involved, the art fees are very reasonable if not cheap.... can't say the same thing about the per chip cost though Sad. If I had Illustrator things could have been easier and could have saved some time.

Sorry probably my ignorance but I'm not sure what the issue is...
When I right click for properties of the link it shows it correctly i.e. forward slashes '/'?? Also, I pasted the link from my browser so the slashes wouldn't have been typed.

ahhh... it is my ignorance! Shocked

I think it's been corrected.

Thanks,
Fins

Wow...thanks for the info Fins. I'm putting together about $1200 (I figure I'll blow a week's pay) to have my own custom set done. I know I want my graphic to be my family crest that I've dug up online, but I honestly have no creative talent to design the rest of the chip. I've tried playing in Photoshop and haven't had the best success (further validating the fact that I have no creative abilities), so your comments were great. I think I need to drop them a line after the holidays and get an order started. How many of each denom did you end up going with?

No problem if it wasn't for others posting and answering questions I wouldn't have gone custom. I like the family crest idea and was about to start designing a set around that theme but then I came up with the club idea. Some thoughts which might or might not spur some ideas...

• I couldn't decide if I wanted my family crest on all chips or to use e.g. mine, my wifes & our grandparents so they'd differ from chip to chip.
• You could incorporate the suits into the crest or something else that says poker... could post the crest you'd like to use for ideas
• I like these wraps... Armed forces theme posted here
• If you go to homepokerchips.com and log into the members area. They have an online custom chip gallery w/ ~140 chips you can go thru for ideas. They also have a pdf file somewhere (homepokerchips.pdf) with about 28 customs they've done.
• Definitely post rough drafts/reviews for comments
• Some folks don't like that the edge spots don't line up so you could design a face that makes that moot... like Ten's Egyptian set uses a banding that doesn't relate to the face... as you saw it doesn't bother me

My breakdown for the 1000 was...
$1 x 200
$5 x 325
$25 x 275
$100 x 125
$500 x 75

I tried to get a good range for cash & tourneys...
For example dealer's choice cash games the $5 = 50¢, $25 = 25¢ & $1 as is... $500 = $5 & $100 = $10 for xtra buy-ins if needed. Can also use $5/$1/$25/$100/$500 as 5¢/10¢/25¢/$1/$5 for low stakes NL/PL games

For tourneys I can use face for tourneys and the $1's for side games or use the $5 as 50's & $1's as 1000 for larger stakes or groups probably up to 32 people I figure.

Definitely alot of flip-flopin' with the breakdowns... had it all set up and then switched slightly at the last moment when I ordered them Surprised We'll see how it works out and whether in a few months I'd do things differnt.

Good luck,
Fins

PS... reached my data transfer limit until next month so I reposted here... TFC Custom Chips guess I should post them in an online album like ofoto or something just haven't looked into it.

Thanks for the advice and input Fins...I think I'll try and tweak the images I have and get a rough idea and get some opinions in here before I send em off. Should be interesting to see what they can do with em.
