I was playing in a local bar tournament (free play, it's a league). Finally made the final table (started with 80) after a couple weeks of not so great showings. Had 11,000, blinds were 5,000 10,000. They were trying to hurry up and finish to get the next one started almost on time. 8 people left. So I picked my hand, which turned out to be a great one, ace king diamonds. I'm all in pre-flop of course, flop comes up ace ace 2. I'm almost jumping for joy, but trying to supress it so as not to mess up the other 3 players in the hand since they had side pots going. The other 2 go all in, third calls, so 3 of us all in and one that had more chips that called us. The caller had the other ace, and a 4. I'm sitting there thinking I've almost got it locked. Turn is junk card........than the river........a 4. I couldn't believe it, he hit the full boat on the river to beat my 3 aces king kicker. Though I did finish 8th which is my best yet, I'd be lying if I didn't say I was pretty disapointed. Pretty much my worst beat in a long time, and boy it was a doozy. I'd have been sitting real pretty at that final table if that 4 hand't come on the river.

Its funny how easily that people can remember the bad beats that they have taken, but have a hard time thinking of any really bad beats they have given. I can remember taking a bad beat many times, but can only think of one really bad beat I have handed out

Well, apart from selective memory, that's probably because most people who complain about beats know something about poker and at least make an attempt to play properly. They dish out beats more rarely because they know how to fold for one thing.
