Explain SNG (sit and go)

It's a single table tournament with 8-10 players for a fixed buy-in with (usually) positions 1,2 & 3 winning a prize.

I think the Sit 'N Go part refers to the fact that it take 30-45 minutes to complete so it's pretty fast.
Or maybe it's cause once you sit you stay there until you're out (no switching tables)

haha, last night I thought about buying into like 5 SNGs and then just leaving and seeing if I made any money. I decided I would go out on the bubble each game so I didn't do it.

Easiest way to explain is, there is no set time it starts, you sign up, what for table to fill and go...hence you sit and go.
They have multi-table sit-n-go also, normally 3 tables....same concept, you sign up...wait for the roster to fill up and go.
its pretty instant action normally....they fill fast on partypoker
