Hi everyone!
I just bought tickets to Vegas! :D :D :D
My dad wanted to go to Vegas for his 50th birthday, so I coming too. I guess I can't spend all of my time at the tables but there's going to be a lot of playing. I'm quite new to poker and this will be my first visit to a bricks & mortar pokerroom. It'll be so fun!!!
I've seen that a lot people already posted questions about diffrent pokerrooms, so I got many of my own questions already answered from there. I'll probably visit Binions one time but stay at a $2/$4 table at the Strip the rest of the time.
Does anyone of you have any good advice for me, this being my first visit and all?
Many thanks!
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com

Hey, I'm leaving tomorrow night (15th). Maybe i'll see you. I want to get in a couple of tournies (moreso to keep me away from the craps tables where I lose $ a LOT faster), and just some regular games. If I may add one question to yours for others....I've never read any books on strategy, but want to do refine my game. So if you could suggest just one book to read, what would it be? If it matters, I'm probably an average t/a player that understands and plays odds well, but my weakness is reading others. I generally just play my cards and rely on weak hunches to gauge the competition.
Good luck, Flux!! I hope you win big (assuming you won't be at my table) :D

Can somebody answer this question for me please.
In a game of texas hold'em, if 2 players have the same straight ex;4.6.J.8.5(hand) player 1 holding 4.7 and player 2 holds 7.Q. Does player 1 win due to the fact that he holds 2 cards in his hand that are in the straaight rather then the other players 1 card in the straight?????

First, there is another forum here that would be more approprite for this question. No prob, it's your first time, but check out what this place has to offer instead of tagging at the bottom of someone's Vegas thread
But Texas HoldEm winning hands are the best five of the seven cards available to the player. In other words, it makes no difference where the cards come from to make his best hand.

Hope you made some money Bass!
I haven't been there yet, I'm going on the 4/11.
Thanks for the advice vegasholdem. How long time does it usually take before you get a seat? I guess it must depend on alot of things, but what's the time-range to expect?

my brother is getting married in michigan on the 5th june - so ill probably head down about the 8th or 9th. Im not sure the exact date yet - it will depend on what flights we can get and how long my family are gonna stay in michigan
how easy is it to get tickets then? Can you do it online? Most of my brothers friends are married etc but theres at least 1 or two of them which im quite friendly with as well who would be up for going to the wsop
