You could always drive up to Oroville's Feather Falls Casino on Friday night and meet me for the $45 NL tourney. I won't be there again until November (saving to destroy Vegas), but it's a fun scene.

Only place i've played in sac so far has been at Jackson Casino.. about 45 mins s.e. from sac. But I've heard there is a cardroom at the limelight bar and about capitol city casino...

..anyone who lives in sac have any input about either of these places?

I live in Davis, go to Jackson at least once a week. Fairly profitable games if you can stand getting outdrawn again and again on low-stakes limit tables. Play solid, tight cards and you'll come up ahead. If you're over 21, there's also Cache Creek which is closer to Davis, Delta Club and Black Oak near Stockton, and a few cardrooms in Sac itself (Capitol is the biggest, there's also Lucky Derby).

Have you played at Capitol City before? How is it? I thought that place was in the middle in the ghetto but i could be wrong? Any details about that cardroom you can enlighten us with?

I also agree that you can get outdrawn at jackson a lot. Last time i was there, was feb and they said then that they were going to have good hand bonuses and bad beat bonuses. I might take another trip there this weekend and try to come out on top Smile

Heh, the time frame for getting things done at Jackson is always "three weeks." That's what the dealers tell me they have to say if anyone asks. Jackpots, tournaments, and the new cardroom are always three weeks away... in fact they've been three weeks away since January. But fairly soon I think they will start running jackpots and tournaments, and by this summer they should have the new room, complete with some new stakes tables (I've heard there will be the addition of $20/40 and a low-blind NL table among other things), and hopefully some new games (I'm itching for some Omaha).

And to answer your question, no I haven't been to Capitol as I'm only 20 and have heard they religiously check ID. I snuck into Cache Creek once but got caught so I haven't been back.

I have heard Delta Club is pretty lax on the weekdays, but there are a few rounders that tear the place up Fri/Sat nights.

Hey Folks,
I just tried a local card room in the Sacramento area for the first time last night and I would like to recommend it to any one interested in a decent card room in the Sacramento area. The place is the Folsom Lake Bowl casino. Folsom is a newly gentrified town that used to be a blue collar working class town with a certain establishment familiar to Johnny Cash and Meral Haggard as its primary source of employment.
I used to work in Folsom a few years ago and back then the card room looked a little too seedy for me to want to play in. However in light of Folsom’s jump in socioeconomic status they have done a massive remodel of the place. I must say, they have done a nice job. The sports bar is open and airy with a number of pool tables, flat panel TVs and a patio. For you single types there were quite a few bettys prancing around and it was only Thursday night.
The poker room has three tables which they run on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights from 8:00 PM till 2:00 AM. You high rollers will have to find other establishments because they only have $2/$4 and $4/$8 tables. The crowd is a younger bunch with mostly twenty and thirty somethings. I got a very fun and friendly vibe from the room and the staff is inviting and attentive. All together this made for a very enjoyable evening. I will be making many returns to the FLB card room in the future.
I also have visited but not played in the Lucky Derby (I wanted to play 2/4 but they only had 4/8 ). The Derby has weekend tournaments that I intend to try one of these times. I would feel reasonably safe playing at the Derby.
This safety issue brings me to a rant of mine. There are quite a few card rooms in the Sacramento area but most of them are in areas where I question weather I could make it to and from my car without getting mugged.
I really wish people would realize that poker is no longer just the pastime of ne'er-do-wells and open some nice clean card rooms in areas where a couple of middle class fools don’t stick out like a stripper at an Amish barn raising. I think FLB gets as close to that ideal as I am going to get right now.

Best regards,
Hank

Played at Capitol City casino for the first time in the last couple of weeks and have been back a few more times... here is my two cents

1. Location: If you know sac then its pretty easy to get to. right off 160s. parking is alright. the main lot is kinda small but there are places to park behind the casino and in front on the street..im a pretty paranoid guy whwnever i leave my car parked and i feel comfy parking around the establishment.

2. Games: Limit 3/6, 4/8, 9/18 (i've only gone on weekdays after work so far)

3: Tables: 7 tables, about 1-2 tables of each level depending on the traffic and 1-2 main game tables. I have yet to figure out why there is a "main game" table.. but from what i've gathered so far..either they move people from the other tables randomly... or they move the chpi leader at each table to the main game.

4: Blinds: $3 BB, 1$ sb, $3 on the button.....the 3 bucks on the button caught me off guard the first time as i was not accustomed to this but i guess it goes towards the rake/bonuses

5: Bonuses: $200 daily high hand bonus... and they have a super jackpot bonus.. royal flush i think.

6: Dealers: nice and friendly

7: atmosphere: really nice casino compared to the other card rooms i've been to. They have a room for paigow, a lounge and a cafe. tv's all over the place. nice and clean. they even use computers for their waiting list.. oooooooooh.

8: People: Decentpeople play there.. im not talkin about skill level, but decent looking people. There aren't degenerate looking mother fawkers there like in some cardrooms coughCAMEOCLUBcough hahaha.

9: Tourneys: I've been told happens on the weekends.

10: Etc: You can drink alcohol while you play at your table. cant even do that at jackson! hahah

Ok. .thats all i can think of right now. i have yet to come out a winner tho. damn bad beats and lucky draws. oh well. thats poker.
