Okay, okay, I know being critical of the card play in Maverick is kind of like making fun of the dead for their poor tennis skills but I just had to say this:
In the final showdown. Maverick draws one card. His opponent makes an all-in raises.
Maverick calls the raise without looking at his drawn card.
GASP, SHOCK, SURPRISE, HORROR
But why? If I was in the crowd I’d just put him on 4 of kind right there. This accounts for his confidence and the reason he doesn’t care about the drawn card that does change his chance of winning either way.
I know this is stupid since he should have just looked at his card then called or folded. But hey I guess if it gets more fish into the game where’s the harm.

as far as drawing fish in....well it didn't really matter cause Maverick was last to act on two all ins, the other guy was cheating and the old guy went all in first....but regardless...how ridiculous of a hand is that? 4 Q's, straight flush, Royal Flush. It would have been a boring hand(movie wise) if he looked at his card before calling....besides that wouldn't have been gambling :D 8)

The Commodore didn't have four Queens - that would have made Maverick's royal in impossibility. The Commodore had quad 8s. Remember when he called out his hand?
"Two small pair...eights...and eights."

They made it seem like Maverick had to draw the Ace of spades to win. His draw was open ended, and he could have also won with the 9 of spades.

Thats the part that always bugged me lol.... They never really say anything about his second out. If the Spanish guy feels bad about that two outer he should play online
