What limits are you looking for?

Posted Thu Oct 23, 2003 4:59 pm GMT by VegasChip
Bellagio starts at 4-8
Mirage starts at 3-6
you can play 2-4 & 4-8 at Monte Carlo
Excalibur has 1-3 and 2-6 spread limit games
Mandalay Bay starts at 4-8 (with $1/$2 blinds)

Luxor, Flamingo and Circus Circus also have Poker Rooms on the Strip but have never been in them...

Need any more detailed info let me know...

I am looking pretty much for the lowest limits possible. Weddings aren't cheap! Shocked I love to play Hold-em but I would also love to play some 5 card draw or stud. The last couple times I have been to Vegas I have always been a little too intimidated to put my name on the list and sit at a table but I wanna play this time.

I am by no means playing to win money (of course that is the object 8) ), I really am just interested in playing for as long as possible without breaking my bank account.

Thanks for any info you may have!

Thanks very much for the infor VC. I will probably try to get to one of those 2-4 games. I am staying at the Venetian so are you aware of what limit tables they have there? Also for Monday-Thursday, how much time should I expect to wait until I get a seat?

I now I am a pest Embarassed

You're gonna play poker on your honeymoon???!!! Well, all I can say is don't leave your bride for long - she'll think you love poker more than her! Women are funny that way...Good luck!

Seriously, this is not a good start. I'd really think twice before I'd play poker on a honeymoon. You must love the game, which is great. But do you really want your new wife to think of poker as something that took you away from her on that first wild weekend of your marriage? Why not ease her gently into the notion that poker will compete for, and frequently win, a lot of your attention?
I have a 30+ year relationship with my wife and a 40+ year relationship with the game. My wife is jealous enough as it is. If I had to be reminded that I played on my honeymoon everytime she was a bit testy about my time committments for an evening or weekend...would have been all that much harder. Poker, I think, is like golf--a virtual mistress. Best to leave them at home on the honeymoon.
I recommend you take her downstairs to the casino and teach her to play craps. It can be a wildly fun time. They even give lessons at the crap table each morning (it was 11:00 at the Aladdin). They are very, very entertaining and the game's a blast.
Well, enough gratuitous advice! Enjoy your honeymoon (but just make sure she does!).

No comment on the "poker is a virtual bride" statement. Smile

Just wanted to let you know that The Venetian doesn't have a card room (but the rooms are truly beautiful!)

Have fun.

Touched a nerve on that one, huh?

The hardest part of being a poker player is being honest about the cost that can't be tallied in dollars and cents. That, I think, was the best part of the book that Wallace wrote (Poker: a Guarenteed Income for Life). He was brutally honest about what it takes to win, detailing many, many things that few people I know would stoop to. He wasn't talking about cheating, but things virtually as unethical. His principal advice about winning was about how to create and cultivate losers. When he was all done he invited the reader to be honest about whether he'd have the stomach for it and urged his audience to consider the cost. But who wants--really--to beat a bunch of losers? Or to spend your life--even your poker life--hanging out with them? We want to beat winners! We want to find the best game out there and beat the hell out of it, crush and dominate it; but that proves all to often to be an expensive ambition. It flies right in the face of the persistent feeling that taking the easy money is every solid player's right and duty.

It's a complex game, is it not? Full of challenge and contradiction and folly at every turn.

Yeah...for sure...keep it the hell out of the honeymoon.

Have you seen that older movie "Las Vegas Honeymoon"? You should check it out, take pointers so as not to end up in that situation. lol jk btw, have a great time. Although i agree that its probably not a great idea to spend any significant amount of time at the tables on your honeymoon, i do think that if she has agreed to go to vegas, then she obviously expects you to play some games... right?
Anyway, have a great one!
