I'm wondering when it is correct to stay in with a flush or a straihgt draw. Lets say on the flop you get an open ended or 4 of the same suit. NOT both. Do you always call to see the next cards or what? What if its not only a bet but a raise you ahve to call? How do you like to play these situations.

tournament or ring game?
what are the blinds?
what position are you in?
how big is the pot?
how much do you have invested in the pot?
what cards are on the board?
what are your hole cards exactly?

open ended straight draw:
need 5:1 to call. (47 unknown cards, eight to win --> 39:8 ~ 5 to 1)
on the turn you need 4.75 to 1 pot odds.
meaning if you call $6 on the turn, $28.50 needs to be in the pot)
four to the flush:
to the turn: (47 unknown cards, 9 to win --> 38:9 ~ 4.22 to 1)
if you bet three dollars there needs to be $12.66 in the pot.
to the river: (46 unknown cards, 9 to win --> 37:9 ~ 4.11 to 1)
if you bet $6 dollars there needs to be $24.66 in the pot.
That's the math. . .
If you're calling a re-raise on a draw, it USUALLY should be a draw to the nuts or second nuts. (i.e. ace high flush or double-gutted w/an over card)
Calling two bets cold w/the bitch end of a straight is not good.
pocket 6-5, flop is 7-8-K.
