Sorry for all the posts, but I have lots of questions!!! :D
I have always played with no minimum bet, but I thought I had read somewhere that the big blind should be the minimum bet. I'm guessing that also means that you have to bet in increments of the minimum bet? So, for instance, if you have $100/$200 blinds, you must raise or bet $200 (or $400, $600, $800, etc.)? Is this right?
Thanks,
jason

yeah, the minimum bet is equal to the big blind. if you're playing limit, you can only raise the same amount. Also remember that the bets double for the turn and the river. So if the big blind is $200, the minimum bet for the turn and river are $400.

I like what are now easy questions for me. Ask away. If somebody else doesn't answer, I will eventually. Failures and questions are the only ways to learn. Questions tend to be less expensive. :D

The minimum bets for the turn and river double? Really? I never knew that!

Yes, even in "No Limit", the minimum bet is double the big blind for the turn and river

I don't believe that's how UB handles it, at least at their lower tables (.10/.25 & .25/.50 NL)

And no, you don't have to bet in increments, but the minimum bet must be the size of the big blind OR the largest bet that round, whichever is larger. If the big blind is $100, you can raise TO $200, or you can raise to $201 or $202 or ANY value of at least $200. So say we expand this situation...
The big blind is $100 and when it's your turn you decide to raise. The minimum raise for you is $100, so if you want to raise you MUST raise to at least $200 ($100 to call + your $100 raise). If you want, you can raise more than $100 by any amount you want, so let's say you decide to raise to $205 ($100 call + $105 raise).
Now the guy after you wants to re-raise you. His minimum bet is the size of the big blind or the largest bet that round, whichever is larger. You made a bet of $105 and that's larger than the big blind, so his minimum raise is now $105. If he wants to re-raise you he must raise to at least $310 ($100 blind/call + your $105 raise + $105 his re-raise). He CANNOT raise by only $100 he MUST raise by $105 or more.
