I WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE KNOWS WHEN IT IS SMART TO AND WHEN YOU SHOULDENT RUN THE TURN,RIVER TWICE OR THREE TIMES AGAINST YOUR APPONENT HEADS UP (MAKING A DEAL)
THEY ALLOW IT IN ALL LOS ANGELES CASINOS, IF BOTH PLAYERS AGREE, YOU CAN RUN THE TURN AND RIVER TWICE/THREE TIMES, OR PRE FLOP YOU CAN RUN 2 OR 3 BOARDS, WHEN IS IT SMART?
I FLOPPED A SET OF 5S LAST NIGHT, AGAINST A-K OF SPADES WITH 2 SPADES ON THE FLOP, WE RAN IT 3 TIMES AND THE FLUSH WON 2-3 TIMES GIVING MY APPONENT 2/3 OF THE POT.THATS 1/3 MORE THAN I WOULD OF GOT BECAUSE MY APPONENT MADE THE FLUSH ON THE FIRST SET, AND SECOND SET, AND MY SET HELD UP ON THE 3RD TIME.
I WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE KNOWS WHEN YOU SHOULD/SHOULDENT DO IT.

anyway, running the river twice means that in order to minimize losses, players agree to run the river twice or even three times.
Dealer does the usual burn and turn, but then after the first river is played out, the dealer burns and turns another card which is now the new river card.
If you run the river twice, and the first river helps out player A and the second river helps player B, then the pot is split. Of course, if player A wins on both river cards, he scoops the pot. The general rule is you ask to run the river two or three times if you have a monster draw but no made hand.
a.k.a. open ended straight draw, w/a four flush. or in his case, set vs. nut flush draw. In your situation i might have run the river as gesture, (i don't like to) cuz you were almost a 5:1 favorite (i believe he only had eight outs, if you didn't hold the 5 of spades). meaning he probably wouldn't be able to get the flush so you're not taking the worst of it by running the river twice or three times.

These "other mf a holes" have cred here, and you don't. That's the bottom line. You aren't going to impress anyone here if you keep communicating like you family tree doesn't branch, and you aren't going to impress anybody here asking an a question a high limit player would know and then and then implying you're a big time big money player.

Okay, whatever.
BUT to answer your question, it's to your advantage to run it twice if you are a) on a draw or B)have the nuts made. It's too your disadvantage if you hold something like a pair against a draw. It's neutral if you hold say, a set or two pair - cause you could still improve, as well. In general, I'm against it - I don't like things that change up the odds I know and love.

And by the way, it's not that hard to read it. Haven't you guys seen a paragraph written with all the letters jumbled up EXCEPT the first and last letters of each word? Most people can STILL read the paragraph.

as far as i can see the mf a holes who responded first to his post merely asked for him to make himself clear, this, one would assume would be a fairly good idea when posting a question and looking for an answer.
He declined to attempt to make anyone understand wtf he was talking about, but got lucky when someone was able to decipher his ramblings.
The fact that his follow up post was abusive to respected members of this forum, who would have helped him a: if they could have b: if they had any idea what he was on about, only serves to justify our poking fun at someone who did actually deserve it

Those aren't/weren't my words. Read the first 3 posts after his; they weren't asking for clarification, they were trying to poke fun at him. That's obvious. I understood exactly what he was talking about in his first post, what was so hard to understand? As for his response to the responses, we agree on that one. But he was unnecessarily treated rudely after his first post, by mods no less. At that point, he DIDN'T deserve it. But now he does.

Fat Tony merely asked him not to post all in caps, thats a fair enough request, and then asks if anyone knows what the guy is talking about, again fair enough. I myself had no clue. I admit, i poked a little fun with my alternating caps, but was making a serious point also, that i found his post difficult to read and asking him for clarification.
As far as i can see, 1 person picked up on his spelling and made some mildly rude comment, but on an open forum that's to be expected.
1 person out of the first 4 responses were rude, the others were asking him to be clearer and or not to type all in caps.
*The judge dismisses all charges levelled against the mf a holes and immediately indicts NEILSTARKS on charges of using all caps, not being clear and gratuitous use of the phrase mf a holes*

haha. .this thread is hilarious!! :D I guess that I was one of the "m f a holes" who got it all started.
The mods have gone beyond the call of duty trying to explain their actions and the actions of others in response to this post. They've done an excellent job of explaining but they didn't need to! For god sakes people, this is a public message board! Hardly anyone knows each other or will ever meet. What are you worried about? Do you feel sorry because some dude you don't even know writes an incomprehendable message and we all have some fun at his expense. So what??
Overall, this is without a doubt the most polite, well-organized msg board I've ever seen. So if someone gets critical once in a while I wouldn't make a big deal of it. And to the admins: you do an excellent job so don't feel like you need to explain yourself if you (or I) let loose once in a while.

Typing in all caps has a long internet tradition of representing anger or hostility. It's also hard to read. How hard it is to read compared to the correct way of typing isn't the point. If I leave a period off of a sentence, you can usually still understand what I meant - but it's still wrong. It's still less then ideal. And Neil's post was so far from ideal, it barely merited a response. I only answered it becasue it haddn't been addressed here before.

Did anyone even consider that NEILSTARKS might just have a broken SHIFT key is all? Really, who the heck writes their HANDLE in caps? It's probably just a little tech glitch and he'll have it taken care of the next time they're upgrading one of the computer labs at school and he's walking by the dumpster on the way to the parking lot. Of course, there is also our own webmaster (really, could we have a little more humility in these appelation, guys?) who seems to have schizoid relationship to his own shift key....probably goes back to something in his childhood, which probably isn't all that far back anyway....
