Hello to all,
I am hosting a limit texas hold em game at my home on tomorrow and this is the setup I’m thinking of going with: 9 players, $15 buy in gets you 55 chips (not very much I know), small blind/big blind = 1/2 chips and doubles every 30 minutes (2/4, 4/8, etc…).
Could you expereinced guys tell me approx how long my game might last with the above set-up and what, if anything, could I change to help it run smoother. I would like the game to last around 3 hours and I am limited to 500 chips. The buy-in is intentionally small as most players (including myself) are inexperencied and this will their first live action.
Any advice is appreciated
Thanks,
Ken

Here is a better way IMHO to do it. Make the chip values 25, 100 and 500. Give everyone 1500 chips. Start the blinds at 25/50. Raise them every 30 minutes. You'll be done in 2-4 hours.

unfortunately, I only have 500 chips....how long do you think my game would last as it's curretly structured?
Thanks,
Ken

its fine if you only have five hundred chips as long as you have three different colors for the chips you can change the value of each to 50, 100 and 500.

Yeah, I didn't mean give them 1500 chips, I meant 1500 worth of chips. Maybe one 500 chip, eight 100 chips and eight 25 chips for a total of seventeen chips. Now you are only using around 150 chips. You can give more chips and start with 2000 or 3000 in chips if you wanted too. Using values of 25, 100, and 500 makes the counting and everything easier.

thanks again guys for the great suggestion. I'm going to hand out 50 chips per player with the following chip values:
35 @ $25/chip = 875
10 @ $50/chip = 500
5 @ $25/chip = 500
for a total chip value of $1,875 per player. I will set the sb/bb at $25/$50 and it will double every half hour.
Thanks for helping me work this thing out.
