Hello,
My friends and I got in a situation recently and we couldnt decide who won.
I have been searching the internet for rules and hae yet to find a clear explination.
The hand was similar to the one explained "Who wins at the showdown - a beginner's guide"
| Quote: | NB. Two players may hold the same 2 pair in which case the 5th card is considered. For example (again ignoring suits):
Player 1 holds : A 10
Player 2 holds : A 7
The community cards are : A 3 3 5 9
In this case, both players have the same two pairs - Aces and Threes but Player 1 will win because his fifth card (his kicker here) is the 10 he is holding whereas Player 2's is the 9 that is on the table.

Here is the hand we had
Player 1 holds: 9 4
Player 2 holds: 9 8
The community cards are : 9 3 3 K 2
Does player two's pocket 8 beat player one's pocket 4 or is it a tie because the community King is used?

It's a tie, both hold 9933K.
Always remember that once you have included the 5 best cards, the 6th and 7th are totally inconsequential. That is a universal holdem rule for any hand - 6 and 7 are NEVER used in any way.
That oughta clear it up
