Large poker tourney - renting a hall in California |

Hello.
A few friends of mine and myself are going to be throwing a large poker tourney in California in the next few months. When I say "large", I mean less than 100 peeps - probably 80 or so. Anyhow, to have an event of this size, we need to rent a hall. What are the legalities regarding this? The house will NOT be taking a rake, nor is there an entry 'fee'. There will be a donation cup passed around 3 times during the night (for the dedicated dealers.) We will have food (hot dogs, burgers, etc..) and will be charging a nominal fee for those (to recoup our out of pocket money.)
So wondering if there are any legal ramifications here, or if it's treated like a home game.
Any and all input is appreciated.
Thanks!
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com

I would DEFINITELY consult with a lawyer on this.
