Luckiest
Player
Ever!!!
And i haven't even watched the end yet!
But my god! Howard Lederer!
First he takes on TJ's A6 with KQ (ok he was only a little behind on this hand) and he makes 4 to a flush on the board!
Then, and this has to go down in history as one of THE Worst Beats Of All Time!
Howie has AcTh raises bb 2.5X to 50k to go.
TJ folds
Chip Reese has TcTs and flat calls
Howie (30%) Chip (68%)
Flop comes Td 4h 3h
Howie (6%) Chip (94%)
Chip checks!
Howie bets 60k, Chip raises 200k more, Howie moves all in, Chip calls!
Turn comes (Td 4h 3h) Jh
River comes (Td 4h 3h)(Jh) Kh !!!!!!
Unreal!!!!!! (and i thought only internet newbies said this )
Howie makes his four to the flush for second hand in a row, overturning a 94% winning hand and knocking Chip out in third place! what makes this worse (if that could be possible) is that TJ was very shortstacked and virtually a certainty to go out in third within a few hands.
94%
This has to be the biggest overturn to win a hand i have seen.
Lastly, a word to TJ Cloutier, saying stuff like "it's all part of the game" to a guy this just happened to? probably not a great idea!

That was a pretty bad beat, but you can't blame Chip for getting all his chips in the pot as opposed to waiting for TJ to get knocked out.
The thing that disturbed me the most, was at the end of the show they said something like "Be sure to catch the finals this spring on ABC."
I'm pissed, we have to wait months to see the finals! What kind of garbage is that? I'm sure ABC(maybe it's NBC, can't remember) figured it's time to jump on the poker bandwagon and purchased the final episodes from FSN.

Yeah, no way can i blame Reese for getting his money in when a 94% favourite, this was just a kinda side issue, and probably why he flat called preflop rather than playing back, i think he said this after.
As for the wait, I know!! what kinda crap is that? I think it's February, and i guess the players maybe have other major events coming up over the next couple months? so maybe thats a reason too?
At first i was a little dubious about this show, the format etc seemed a little convoluted, but it has been superb! Being able to watch these world class players who all know each others play so well, it's just fantastic!
Altho i think Helmuth would really have added to it, purely for his happy go lucky attitude Also i would have loved to have seen Phil Ivey & Johnny Chan be more involved in some of these games.
But hey ho, it's been great.
:D

all that's missing are the "nh" and "ty".

i think the main difference between bad beat from a player of lederer's caliber, etc and an amateur is that you can't blame howard for the 10's...... he had top pair ace kick
as with the tj hand.... yeah its very close preflop but hitting a 4 flush is kind of much

Yeah this is fine, howard in fact explains later that he put Reese on a T lower kicker. The thing is tho, especially at this level, Reese outplayed him mightily, he had howard on the floor, with the knife at his throat and the tournament between his teeth, runner, runner, flush
As the commentators said earlier, (in a hand where Reese actually caught a 3 outer on the river to take the pot) No good play goes unpunished.
