A few of my pal wanna start a poker night, from what I'v gathered, each of us is willing to shell out $25 at least and some of us are willing to shell out $100 total. I figure, From what I've read so far, 3 colors of chips is all I really need. White Red and blue. We want to do a spread limit game. I'm thinking 1-5.
Theres about 10 of us and I'm now clueless on what the chip denominations or how many chips I'm going to need. I'm thinking White=1, Red=5 and Blue=25 and I'm thinking a 300 chip set is probably gonna do it for me.
I really don't want to mess this all up. so if someone could help me out, please drop me a reply. I really don't care if my chip count, the denominations, or the Betting limits/blinds have to change. just as long as I get it semi right.

If you make it $1-5 dollars then whoever puts up $25 is probably going home real quick. I would drop the limits down a little more. Maybe $.25-$2 or $.5-$2.50 preflop and on the flop and $1-$5 on the turn and river. Maybe use $.25, $1 and $5 for the chips. I would most likely stick to either $.25/$.50 or $.50/$1 blinds.

You could also consider tournament style where everyone buys in for $25 and gets 1000 chips. Since you have people who might want to play for more $$ you could have a rebuy of $25 for the first two or three rounds if they "bust out" or fall bellow XXX at the end of the rebuy period.
By playing no limit holdem you would just need $5, $25 and $100 chips preferably in Red (20), Green (12) and Black (6). The blinds would increase every 30 minutes or so and the game would last around 4 hours.

You know the Tournament style game wouldn't be such a bad idea if me and my pals could stand it. we've been playing nothing but tourney for 6 months now and it not that tourney is bad, it just all there is to play here.
we want a ring game rather then tourney that way we can leave with what we've won rather then battle to place into money.
thanks though.

You know I though about that as soon as I posted and your right. the limits need to be lower. maybe even fixed so that we don't go out as fast. thanks. I'll take this to heart.
