Posted Sun Nov 07, 2004 5:36 pm GMT by Flamingo
hello people,

been to vegas 3 times and rapidly approaching my 4th trip this saturday 11-13-04. the difference is, i am going by myself for 4 days to mostly play poker...some craps.
anyone gone alone? if so, have any tips or good stories? any things in vegas geared toward solo travellers? it might be helpful to know i'm a 29 yr old single male from the cleveland area.
anyway, thanks in advance for any input.

I just went as a 33 year old married male on my own. Most of my days were take up by work, but I still managed to pass the time.

Tips-do fast meals, buffets, delis, etc. kind of a downer waiting for food by yourself unless the view is good
vans, trams, buses; cabbing alone is spendy (unless you can hitch a ride w/ some hot broads)
drink to loosen up and meet people, but remember that no one will watch out for you, save your hardest drinking for your home casino
smile and have fun, Vegas is full of people from all over just waiting to make new friends!

I dunno. A lot depends on when you go, traffic on the strip can be a bitch. I dont think that it would be more than $5-8 most times of the day though.

Hey guys, I just got back from vegas, like seriously 10 minutes ago .

Today is Nov 7th by the way, and this is the first time I have utilized the buss system. Seriously, buy a 5 dollar pass for the day and your in. It goes up and down the strip all day, and all the way to downtown.

You can catch it basically in front of almost any hotel.

I probably save $100 or more dollars this weekend alone.

BTW nitchstick, I'm also from Eugene, Oregon and go to U of O Smile

I'm in Portland Oregon and love the Ducks!

In Vegas go to the Mandalay Bay poker room. It's warm, friendly and they have loose games full of tourists that don't take the game to serious.

I won $400 in a 4/8 game last time in less than 3 hrs. Plus the sportsbook is right there for football betting! Laughing

Solo in Vegas can be depressing (possibly different if you're not married, but it's a horrible place when you are the type inclined to behave). There is always comaraderie at the poker table and even the crap table (sometimes). My advice is go hard and hit your room really tired.
