Raising

Posted Mon Nov 08, 2004 1:20 pm GMT by runpaulone
Can someone clarify the rules of raising and re-raising? Let's say there are 3 people. SB bets. BB calls-raises. 3rd position calls-reraises.

Can SB reraise? Can BB reraise? Then can 3rd position reraise that?

i assume you are talking about NL, and if that's the case the re-raising is only limited by the player's stacks.

yes, the SB can re-raise, yes the BB can re-raise, and yes 3rd position can re-raise as well.

in a standard limit game i think there is a max 4bet. 1 bet, and 3 raises.

Tony, so in NL you can re-raise until there are no chips on the table?

Buddha, you say in a standard limit game, there can be a bet, a raise, and 2 reraises? Doesn anyone have a book explanation on any of this?

First question, yes it's no limit and that's exactly what it is. You can raise and re-raise until someone or both are all-in.

Second question, you aren't going to need a book for this info. It is standard in fixed limit games. Being a limit game you can only bet and raise a certain amount depending on the limits. After it has been bet and raised three times the betting is capped and you move on.

Normaly there is a 4 bet max in limit games. However, some casinos allow unlimited raises in fixed limit if it is a heads up situation(only 2 people betting). I don't think any of the online sites alllow this though.
