I got a few of these in today and I have to say I'm really impressed. I have the NJ Skull chips, the ceramic/composites. The Desert Sands are the EXACT same chip, just with different graphics and color combinations. The NJ chips have gold side stripes on every color chip, while the DS have contrasting side stripes for each color. The color combinations are great and the graphics are very nice as well. I was strongly debating getting these before I decided on the skull chips (btw the DS look way better in person than in the photo).
Here's my problem with them. One, the look way too generic. These chips don't need graphics for the design. They look like typical chips with a simple sticker in the middle. A little too boring for me, whereas the Skull chips definitely stick out amongst the crowd (though most people will prefer the DS graphics to the Skull graphics). Second, the texture these chips use for the graphics stains kind of easily from dirt and dust. The graphics are white and this is very noticeable. Also, I really can't figure out why they used the marbelized sides on these chips. This was probably the biggest detractor for me. The top of the chip is a flat color, then the sides have the marble, and it just doesn't look right. The skull chip graphics reach almost all the way out to the edge of the chip, so the marbelized sides look very cool and appropriate whereas they look forced here.
All in all, a great looking and feeling chip, just not unique enough to make it really stand out. If they had used flat color sides instead of the marble, then they would have the best looking chips on the market, hands down.
