this is really just because of my lack of paying attention to what the dealers doing, but ill give you an example...
player A has 1000 chips
player B has 4000
player C has 6000
player A goes all in preflop
players B,C call so now the side pot is made correct? and whos money is in that side pot? players B and C? or are they still in the main pot because they called, and a side pot wont start becuase they didnt bet?
also, say if player B bets, C reraises, on the turn, and B calls and no one bets on the river...
so now they show there hand and say if player B had three of a kind, and player C has a straight, and player A has a flush, does player A win both pots, because he beat everyones hands? or does he only win the main pot?
but say if player A had a straight, and player C had the flush, would player C take it all? or just the side pot?
sorry if this is confusing, im not a good typer lol
thanks

Your situation
Player a with 1000
player b with 4000
player c with 6000
in the text of a sidepot, say player a goes in preflop like you mentioned and b and c call. as of now, there is no sidepot. there would be 3000 chips in the main pot. now on the flop, b bets 1000 and c calls, there would be 2000 chips that player a couldnt cover, thus creating a side pot. now that would make a 3000 chip main pot that any player could win, and a 2000 chjp side pot between b and c. now say each player had the following hands.
player a AK
player b QQ
player c AA
flop is AKQ
turn 9
river 5
player a has 2 pair
player b has trip queens
player c has trip aces
player c would win both the main pot and side pot.
now say that player a had AA and player c had teh AK with the same community.
player a would then win the 3000 main pot with trip aces and player b would win the side pot with trip queens.
whoever is all in first can only win the main pot, and then the side pots are won by whomever is left that has the best hand. I hope this is clear enough to understand
