I am finally going to get a set of cheap chips for some of the home games I have and was wondering if anyone can point to the cheapest place the get them at. The only requirement is that they are not plastic. I only need about 300-400.
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com

All cheap chips are going to be plastic. The question is the quality of plastic. Almost every "affordable" chip you find is going to be made out of plastic regardless of whatever claims the owner makes to them being 'clay' or 'clay composite' or my personal favorite, 'clay like'. Everyone has their favorite place and it's tough to point one out in particular. I've bought from 5stardeal.com and pokerparadise and had good experiences.

I meant I was looking for the non - plastic chips and trying to get some clay or heavy - weighted or what the hell ever they are.

best you'll find for cheapos is probably the 9gram super diamond. the striped dice chips are quite cheap now adays too... but they're slippery like most others out there. if you just want some decent basic chips... get the 9gram super diamonds.
5stardeal.com has them for like 8cents each... they have sets as well at good prices. ebay is also another great option. you could probably get a set of 500 super diamonds on ebay for 50 bucks.

I'm starting to sound like a broken record...but look at the new 10 gram 'dice' chips. They are amazing, and you can get 1000 for $80.00.
Cheers,
John

i need to get some samples of those.
i wish they made them without the dice or the corwn imprint. i'd like them fine with just the edge spots.
also... at 30+ cents a chip vs. 08 cents a chip... they're still outside of the "cheap" category in my opinion.

Checkout: http://www.homepokertourney.com/chips_charts.htm
It all depends on your budget. For $325 you can get a set of 500 hot stamped w/ edge spots at www.pokerchips.com

Are the middle of those chips recessed? It looks flush with the rim. Do you think they would hold a 1" sticker? The pictures imply a 1" sticker wouldn't fit in there very well.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think a sticker will work on that chip due to the texture.

I am also interested as to whether a sticker would work on the 10 gram dice chips. I have samples on the way and if a sticker would work I will definately order 1000.

No...stickers won't work because A) the center has a lot of texture to it, and B) more importantly, the center isn't recessed.

Indianachris- If all you need to do is get 300 chips to upgrade from flimsy plastic bicycle chips go to eBay. For example http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=63758&item=6130999758&rd=1
looks pretty affordable and the guy probably has more where that came from.

I use these chips for cheapos since they are cheap but good to play with. We can buy tons of them and use them in tournaments.
