Hello,
My first time posting. I am having a big dispute with another player (home game) about a rule, and I have gone all over the internet, and can find only one reference to this situation. Please help!
My hand = 10,4
His Hand = 10,9
Community Cards = 5,5,10,10,2
My thoughts on this are, we both have a full house, and we have to split the pot. He insists that he wins because he has a full house, but that the game then turns to the next highest card, which in this case is his 9. I insisted that the game is based on five cards only, and that the sixth or seventh card can not be counted, period. I played Friday night and lost five games to situations like this! Now, I agreed with him that if this is the house rule (we were playing at third party friends house) that I would follow it. But he insists that this is not just a house rule, that this is THE rule for Texas Hold'em. I would love some opinions, and if anyone knows of an official site that states the clarity on this rule, that would be great! I need to take him some printed proof
Thanks for any help!

It is and always will be the best five card hand. There are no kickers in a full boat. Should've been a split pot.
I think we should post some "official" rules for holdem somewhere on this site...

Like the other guys said. Texas Holdem is a five card game. The best five cards win. There is no sixth. Had there only been one 10 on the board and you both had two pair then yes, the kicker (the fifth card) would have come into play.

Thanks for the responses guys. I was pretty certain of this rule, but he got all upset and started telling me how he has played poker for years, yadda yadda yadda. Anyway, I think an "Official Rules" would be great. The biggest problem with something like that is, who is considered official enough to post such a page. I went to casino websites hoping to find rules, but none of them listed any.
As for me getting screwed royally, I think I was But it was a low dollar game, and primarly for fun, so I can get over it... this time...
