I have been playing for about 4 months and i really enjoy it, i have a pretty crappy set of royal flush chips, and i am looking in to a new set, i am considering the edge spot 12g nexgen 8000 series chips. I really like the nevada jacks composite but they are pretty pricey, i am going to get a set for christmas so its really not a matter of buying a 500 dollar set maybe 250 at the most ne suggestions would be helpful.
thanks alot for any help :D
I cleaned this up because I couldn't make any sense of the gobbleyguck that was running through the post. If it was something else entirely maybe something that my computer couldn't recognize someone can let me know...mg

For the amount of money you want to spend, I would consider two:
Poker Chip Co. 1003 or 1006 models: $225-275 per 500 depending on hotstamping, etc. Possibly the best of the "cheaper" chips but limited personalization (hotstamping) and mundane spots (white).
Nexgen 8000's. $150 per 500. Great feel, colored edge spots. Only problem is they slide a little too much when stacked on each other. You can spend an extra 5 cents a chip and purchase custom labels off the Net which should reduce this. The benefit of custom labels is...custom. They can say/show anything. The turnaround on the labels is within a week as well.
You've got time before Christmas to order samples, decide, and place your order. 5stardeal will ship the Nexgen samples the same day you order.
A third option for the same cost (50 cents a chip) is a plain real clay chip (non-customized inlay) from pokerchips.com. Whether you would receive them by Christmas, I dunno.
In my mind, other than the 10g faux clay which I hear are nice but dog ugly to me, the only reason to buy something cheaper than the Nexgen's is because you can't afford it, not because the chips are nicer.
Just my two cents

Here's the page you want to look at in order to understand what clay chips are available, at what price, from pokerchips.com:
http://www.pokerchips.com/chips/chips_styles.html
These are only the clay chips -- if you want to look at their cheaper chips, you can go to:

You need to pick a mold.
http://pokerchips.com/molds.html
Then you need to pick a base color and an edge spot from the color chart.
http://pokerchips.com/colors.html
Then you need to design a label if you are getting a custom center.
You will have to call them with information to order. I also think they will help you over the phone. There are no web orders or customization. The web site is kind of a guide.
I ordered the following baseedge spot colors on the roman mold with no center graphic. (.50 each)
WhiteArc Yellow
BlackDayglo Green
GreenDayglo Pink
PurpleDayglo Yellow
YellowDayglo Orange

thanks a lot but does anyone have any more information or thoughts on the nexgen poker chips?

I have the Nexgens and like them, consensus seems to be they're an inexpensive option somewhere between dice chips and clay chips. A set goes for $150 or so. They came out a couple months ago and so this has been pretty thoroughly covered in previous posts with lots of pics and links and discussion. I don't have any of the links offhand, if you click on the search link near the top of the page and input "nexgen" it will find them for you.

It's sort of funny...one of the suppliers to the NexGens that I speak with hates them and another supplier I also talk to thinks they are really great. Who knows?
I only have a single NexGen for my site, and the only thing that I can find wrong with it is that it's slick against other composite chips. Any NexGen owners care to comment on the slickness of the chips in a stack?

I own both the 13g casino mold and the nexgens.
The 13 gram are softer and have a more rubbery feel. They are more fragile. The wrapped stacks broke open during shipping and two were damaged too badly to use.
The Nexgens are slicker and don't stack quite as well. You can stack the 13's up to the ceiling.
The Nexgens look better and are available in more standard colours.
I think a label would fit the nexgens better.
