I finally joined my first 3/6 game! (Long but Entertaining) |

After chickening out and posting about it on the boards before (http://www.texasholdem-poker.com/forum/t6304/help-me-get-to-the-tables), I finally got bored enough to risk some cash and go to a local casino and play some 3/6. My impressions of this CRAZY TABLE...
HOLY FISH BATMAN!!!
YOU GUYS WEREN'T KIDDING ABOUT 3/6! 10 people at the table and we're talking AT LEAST 4-5 people see the flop. I tried to raise to keep some people out and we had every last one of them called. It didn't matter if I was betting 3 or 12, if they were in they were in!
I was actually only able to play an hour but came out +$16 (+$21 if you add the dealer tip, more about this later).
I was 1-for-2 in showdowns. Had AQ and the flop came Qx8 with another 8 on the turn. I decided to bet out hard and make it $12 when that second 8 came. I ended up beating two players one with rags and another with Q with a brutal kicker (honest to God these guys were staying in with 97 until the river without even a pair..it was unbelievable). BIG pot to as I stacked about $50-$60 in chips. Second showdown I got rivered on though. Had AT and the flop came Axx with two spades. Guy chased it all the way to the river, but then tried to CHECK RAISE WHEN HE GOT IT! After we checked the scare card he got all pissed off and slammed his fist on the table . Nice try pal!
Only annoying thing was the drunk guy next to me (annoying = bad, but I took him for $20 anyway). He tried on multiple occations to look at my hole cards (and not make any mistake about it). "Well I'm not in the hand!" was the moron's excuse after the dealer repeatedly told him to knock it off. On a seperate occation, the one time I made it 3 bets preflop he got pissed off AGAIN, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING? WE HAVEN'T EVEN SEEN THE FLOP YET?!?!?" That's the idea ya gomer!
Then his other guy to my RIGHT, I had A8 fop comes A45, someone raises I re-raise (cause most were dumb enough to raise with low pair), then this guy re-raises me again, I fold, he ends up winning the pot with two pair, aces and fours. No problem. Good play, and I tell him that. THEN HE APOLOGIZES TO ME!!! "Sorry about that re-raise man, I didn't do it to try to get you to fold, I just had to bet two pair." X 10! He's apologizing for re-raising me?!?! (Not to mention he probably SAVED me money).
The dealers also quickly realized by the way I cut chips that I myself deal cards. The hour was rife with inside jokes and tounge in cheek compliments. After I got rivered the boss says "Nice river card Joe!" Joe says, "Thanks!" LOL Boss Translation: "Joe, you're a lucky son of a bitch!"
I mean...lots of action, drunks, people calling 4-5 bets with ace high or bottom pair, people feeling bad about raising me, this is too good to be true, isn't it?
I plan on going back ASAP to see how it goes!

Where did you play?
Typical 3/6 casino game. One or two players that care, everyone else just looking for action. They are happy to drop $100 everytime out just so that they can talk about the one hand where they pocket kings w/ 27 offsuit.

| Quote: | | Where did you play? | Just a local mini-casino called Cleopatras. They have about 6-7 tables and a one table poker room.
There really aren't any "poker rooms" around here. Hell even the nearest indian casino only has 4 tables in their poker room.
We have 3 in the casino where I work. Usually have a 3/6 on one and the final couple people finishing up the earlier tournament on another. The third really only gets used at the off chance we have enough people willing to play 5/10.

The nearest Indian Casino to me has over 80 poker tables. It's nice that Foxwoods has the largest poker room in the world. That is of course unless Bellagio has taken over the top spot.

I don't think Bellagio has anywhere near 80 tables. I'd guess they have 40-50 or so.

No, I would say 30-40 tops for Bellagio too. Heck, where I play they have 50 tables and that can grow to 70-80 when big tourneys are happening.
