8 Deck Card Shoe, Shuffling |
|
Posted Wed Nov 19, 2003 3:46 am GMT by MrCram
About six of us have been playing T. Holdem every week for the past two months. We have been using two decks. I have been noticing quite a bit more Flushes then Straights or Three of a Kind. Now the host has insisted on shuffling the all 104 cards every round.
My question is.
I bought a 8 deck card shoe, how are the decks placed into the shoe? Is each deck shuffled individually and then placed in one at a time? Or do you shuffle all 8 decks at once and place them in? As I understand it poker is only played with 52 cards not 104. If each deck is shuffled by itself then would someone have to count all 52 cards each time and place them back into the shoe?
Thanks for clearing up the confusion!
M.

Yeah, why use two decks for poker? All casino poker games only use one deck.

Does 5 of a kind beat a straight flush?

depends on if your 5 of a kind is all suited or not.

I don't really think adding another deck will help your flush to straight ratio... it will probably hurt it. I think you should just play with people that wont call a preflop raise with 53 just cause it's suited.

LMAO.
Two Deck Poker someone realy should bring that to a casino in Vegas or somthing could make a ton of money selling the system would need to add some more rules thoe

Not to be a jerk here, but actually, it will.
Let's say I have 2 spades, and there are 2 more on the flop. Under normal circumstances there would be 9 spades out of the 47 remaining cards. If I add a deck therea are 22 spades out of 99 cards.
(22/99) > (9/47)

right, so that means more flushes... and he wanted fewer flushes

More flushes, same amount of straights = higher flush to straigth ratio.
...I don't know I could be missing something, it's happened before.

You want your mind blown?
Grab 3 buddies. Maybe 4. No more. Buy a case of beer, and play a bunch of 8-Cardmaha 8 or better tournaments.
Every player gets 8 cards. You must you two from your hand, 3 from the board. Best played pot limit. High hand and low hand split the pot.

It boggles my mind. I would've loved to have been a fly on the wall at one of those games.
Can you imagine all of the newbie posts from that game?
If player A has JsJs and Player B has AcAc and the board is 2s3s4s5s6s who wins?

I am quite sure that 8 of a kind would beat 5 of a kind.

but you still can only play your Five best cards

If you are going to use two decks, why not use the best 10 cards? 8 card flop, turn, river.
Imagine the new hands, like a 5-Ace 'Super Straight'.

This scenario reminds me of the time a friend got into a poker game, and they mistakenly used a double pinochle deck (48 cards, nines thru aces only, multiple suits.) He won about $1200 dollars very quickly before they realized the mistake. Since they couldn't accurately reconcile each hand with each pot, the results stood as played.
Next day, he purchased a nice new set of Pings with the winnings. True story - happened in Munich, Germany.

I like holdem with 4 decks.... And to make it even more exiting, throw in 8 jokers... Now thats fun And What about 20 community cards (12 flop, 4 turn. 4 river)? And 8 pocket cards? Best 20 card combination win! Wouldnt it then rock to get pocket-8-jokers? It would be lots of action too! Considering it can be played with up to 96 players... Im gonna call it "Hungry4Knowledge hold'em" the game it takes a year to learn and can't be mastered....

Playing poker with more than one deck is like giving yourself a vasectomy with a steak knife and some crazy glue. Sure, you COULD do it, but.....
