I was just flipping through the channels and it makes me really sad to say that I think poker definitely jumped the shark tonight. I got excited for an episode of the WPT that I had never seen before, but...then....it was....WPT American Chopper vs. Trading Spaces. UGH

who cares its celebrity tv. ppl like watching celebritys doing anything, even playing poker. I thought it was quite entertaining but ppl have there own opinions.

I saw this and was entertained for a while, but its much more fun and helpful to watch the better players.

I agree. The most fun I get out of watching celebrity poker is thinking, "I could kick his ass....and his....and his..."

That crap is an absolute waste of time. I was so pissed when I thought it was a new episode and realized it was Idiot, uh, er, I mean Celebrity Poker.
You guys should be pissed that instead of seeing a pro game that could actually be helpful you end up watching a game with people that don't know how to play. It's a bad sign that networks have to show celebrity poker over pro games for ratings. Might be the beginning of the downturn in popularity for poker.

I may be wrong but I think the WPT has one celebrity tournament a year for charity. So I didn't see anything wrong with it except for who were the final two.

If you don't like it, don't watch it, simple as that. However, you can learn just as much watching bad players as you can watching the pros. Also, they could have been testing the rating waters by going up against FSN in the same time slot, just a thought.

Oh give me a break dude. I'm sure that Nut Flush isn't crying his eyes out over it. He made a ridiculous comment that was not only obvious but also devalued many other people's opinions on here. I'm sure he can take the return criticism without you coming to his rescue.

I see just as many "bad plays" watching the pros as I do watching celebrities. If you think watching the pros on TV is educational, I would have to disagree. They edit days worth of footage into just a few hours coverage for TV. We don't get to see all the great plays, we get to see poeple getting knocked out and the famous "all in bluff". I honestly believe pro poker on TV is partly responsible for all the crap play you see on the internet. Hey, Gus Hansen can go all in with a 58 of spades, maybe I'll try it!

Again, I have to disagree. Believe it or not, there are actually people that watch American Chopper and Trading Spaces(although I can't see why, but that's not the issue). Some of these people may have never watched or played poker and decide to tune in to The Travel Channel to see thier favorite TV personalities playing poker. During the break, they may see a "PartyPoker" commercial or log onto www.worldpokertour.com to learn more about the game. The more people that get exposed to poker, the better.
Not to mention, the normal time slot for the WPT is Wed @ 9pm est. Like I stated before, they may have been looking to see how a WPT event did in the ratings against FSN and didn't want to "waste" a new pro episode testing the waters.

At first I though celebrity poker was a good idea. Bring poker to people that dont really know what the games about but watch it cause they know the people playing. However after I saw 10 minutes of one episode my opinion changed. Why dont they get a table full of celebrities that at least know how to play. There is enough of them out there. Donna (forget her real name) from that 70's show. Norm Macdonald, Ben Affleck and I could go on. Im not saying these peple are pros. But they are by far better than the usual people on celebrity poker. And I know Norm has been on already but I mean they should have a table full of people with at least some skill and celebrity status.
that being said I personally would MUCH prefer to watch real poker with real poker players. I am just giving my 2 cents as to what would make the crappy celebrity poker a bit better.

Amen! If I had a quarter for all of those I've played against who think they can be Gus Hanson, I'd be buying my way into the 2005 WSOP. There are so many hands edited out because they're not action hands. America loves drama, so even in this, they only show the "dramatic" hands. They don't show Doyle Brunson folding 10 2. And they don't show the bluffs that get caught much either. I happened to miss the episode everyone is discussing, but all poker on TV is Tivo'd for me. I'll have to check it out. I have to admit that it's entertaining to watch people who don't have a clue play. Like Sean said: The most fun I get out of watching celebrity poker is thinking, "I could kick his ass....and his....and his..."
