Can a NL Texas Hold'em Pro/experienced player point me to the best sources of "poker theory"? Question

I would like to learn how to:
- calculate my odds of winning a given hand
- bet to maximize nut hands
- bluff & when to bluff
- call bluffs & when to call bluffs
- & basic theory in general

THANK YOU to whoever can help!!! :D

i believe onlinetexasholdem.com has a calculator that lets you put any two hands in, and even add the flop and the turn...it will give you the odds of each hand winning. This should be of help to you.

i just started reading it, so i'm not sure if it covers everything you asked about, but i'm pretty sure it will (and more). what i have read so far has been extrememly thorough.

the book is Theory of Poker by David Sklansky. i am not going out on a limb by suggesting this book. it is well known as one of the best books on the market and it is through it's reputation that i picked it up. so far have been far from disapointed in it.

but it might be the next step for you as it was for me. i have learned a lot from just surfing the web.

start with THP's:
http://www.texasholdem-poker.com/odds.php
and see where that can take you (google is your friend!)

that might be all you're looking for for now.

Sklansky books are great, but they do make my brain hurt for like 20 min when im done reading them. Are you playing limit, NL, or tournaments? What stakes. All of these things are important when considering bluffs, ect.

i like to play no limit (mostly just with friends)

things that you read in books mostly assume that you are playing with "good" players. If your friends are "typical", then the books are good info for theroy only. in reality, you need to play lots of different hands, depending on the texture of your game.

i read somewhere about catagorizing players:

tight/loose & passive/aggressive

and that there are different playing styles to go against each one of these players...

from what i read, this is what i have compiled so far: Idea
tight = plays only good hands
loose = plays a variety of hands
passive = generally does not make high bets and calls only w/ good hand
aggressive = generally makes high bets even w/ nothing

...is this correct? or am i way off? if not someone plz correct me and point me in the right direction Arrow
