i can most of the time tell when this one guy i play with has a pocket pair (anywhere between 22 and AA), because bets in a certain pattern preflop. any advice on how i should play him?

yea, fold! Unless there is a lot of dead money in the pot and you believe you have two overcards...If he has 22 you are a slight underdog with any two overcards, including AKs. This is assuming you are playing no limit and he has put in a significant raise. Also this is heads up. The more people in the pot, the more you can play. Sorry, I guess this isnt a definite answer...guess i need more info on how he bets and what the other situations are

If you can outplay him on flop and if he didnt raise that much preflop you can call raises with 86s if you want preflop when u know he has AA. if he is a good player on flop id advise you to just fold when he raises and wait till you have a better hand preflop and reraise him with it.

Are you trying to win money from him or are trying to coach him so you are both at the final six.
