I have never played in a casino before, in fact, the only live game I have ever played in was a home game that I hosted two weeks ago. I found that playing with acutal people was a lot more fulfilling than playing with my computer, so I thought I'ld give a casino a try.
I actually went thinking I would play some 1/2 or 3/6 but they were having a NL tournament with only a $15 buy in. I thought this would be a better way for me to see if I could hack it in a live game, especially since I could only lose $15. Anyway, everyone started with 1K and there were unlimited rebuys for the first 3 rounds. I thought this was completely lame, because people just kept going all in, busting, and rebuying. The casino also let people add on any time they wanted too. Also, the blinds started at 25/50 and doubled every 15 min.
I only played 1 hand in the first 3 rounds, which I won and it was the last hand before the break. I then had a medium stack, but then they started breaking the tables up, and I was thrown into a couple of big blinds that drained me pretty quick. I was able to bounce back and won 3-4 other so I was feeling pretty good. To cut to the chase, I ended up 27th out of 140, and busted out on a set of Jacks to a full house. Not a bad day.
I have been getting extreemly disapointed with online poker, to many weird things happen, so I think I will switch to playing live games. I will continue to play online for practice, but playing live was a blast.

Were u paying attention in the hand that u had a set and lost to a fullhouse, cause if u have a set of jacks you would also have a fullhouse if someone else does.

It's also a real rush to play for the first time against real people... If you can stop shaking/smiling/sitting completely still, depending on your hand!!!
The set/boat loss scenario would apply if 2 jacks flopped and the other player had another pocket pair maybe...

like i said if there is a possible boat out there, and you have a set, you also have a boat. I think some people have to learn what a set is.

I think the proper terminology is
JJ in hand XJX on board = set
AJ in hand XJJ on board = trips

I am unequivocally apologetic to the entire board, and all the members that had to endure my uneducated, unintelligent, and unmistakably misguided post. I did indeed not have a set, I had trips. Once again, I am deeply sorry for the confusion and sorrow that my misguided vocabulary imparted upon you.

Such a nice apology. You are forgiven.
