I read this rule on party poker /quoteIf two or more hands are the same ranking, the winner is the one having the higher cards. For example, a Flush with an Ace high beats a Flush with a King high. If the poker hands remain tied, then the highest card not being held in common (the kicker) determines the winner What this sounds like is that it can go to a 6th card if the hands remain tied? Is that what it says? I have heard that it is the best five but why does a partypoker use this rule then?

no, what it means is if the top card is the same you go to next highest and so on. BUT you only do this for the top 5 cards. if both players top 5 are all of the same value (an example would be a board flush that both are playing) then the pot would be split. THERE ARE NO CARDS 6 OR 7 IN HOLD'EM. you are interpreting the rule incorrectly.

You should have read that whole paragraph.
