Posted Sun Dec 12, 2004 12:34 pm GMT by ChkDeezNuts
Okay...I decided on Custom ChipCo for my cash games.....and it is costing a pretty penny......($1,400)

But now I need a Tourney set and I was thinking about the chips from Allin Chips......

What do you guys think of them?

Can anybody think of a better tourney set?

I have no experience with them, but I have not heard anything good at all about them.

They are a pretty good price, but I've heard that you can break them in half with just your fingers, and you can take chunks out of the chips with your fingernails.

I'm sure more people will comment, but it sounds like there is a better alternative. If you don't mind not having denoms, the 10 gram dice clay chips are really as good as others say they are. Only 6 cents per chip at 5stardeal.com with after the 25% off. I almost bought a thousand of those before I got on with the Casbah Club chip deal.

Good luck, hope this helps

The NexGen chips are also on sale at 5stardeal.com. $.26 a chip plus a 25% discount. A set of 500 is just under a hundred dollars.

If you want a nicer set with denoms, the Desert Sands can be bought for $300 for a set of 500 from the same place.

Ive heard the All-In chip isnt very durable. You may not have guys snapping them in half, but they could get scratched and dented easily with normal play.

My thoughts (and many others') on the matter can be found here:

Not sure how you figure that. A set of 500 of the NexGen Las Vegas chips is $140 which would be $105 with the 25% discount, and then when you add back the $19.95 shipping, you're back up to 134.94 plus any applicable taxes.

For those interested......I am leaning heavily to the James Bond Chips on 5stardeal.com......The price is too good to pass up.....and they are perfect for Tourney play.......plus I have already spent too much money on chips.

If you want to rip my decision...post it in this thread...so my head can explode. They are on backorder as of now so I can change my mind another 40 or 50 times.

Cash Games: Custom ChipCo's

Tourneys: James Bond Chips

Technically, 500 Nexgens would be $97.50 before shipping and handling which would have to be paid on any chips bought from anywhere.

Okay...Houston....we have a problem.....8.3 GRAMS (Bond Chips)!!!!!!!!!!

HELL NO!!!!!!!!!!

Back to the drawing board......

It's looking like the Desert Sands chips....that is a good looking chip!!!!

$300 for 500 sounds good to me too.

I love the Buypokerchips "modern clay" for tourney chips....but they are too expensive for tourney chips.

BTW...the nexgens look like CRAP!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the help, but when I referred to a "set" I guess I should have just said, 500 chips for 97.50. Thats how I figure to get 500 chips for under $100. Not buying the actual aluminum case (which is crap) and just buying chips.

I have to pay for shipping for any chips I buy, and 19.95 is on the cheap end of the spectrum. With no sales tax, I feel confident in saying, "You can get a "set" of 500 NexGens for under $100." Buy some chip racks instead of the case, and you've got a decent "cheap" set of chips.
