How many did you get? My 900 came today also. Pictures don't do the justice. They are fantastic! First game with them in 5 hours. :D

Posted Thu Dec 16, 2004 2:58 pm GMT by dberg
yeah agreed, pictures really dont do them justice. I just cant get the lighting right. Oh well i have em so i know what they look like Smile

I got 325 and definitely gonna get a bunch more. I got them just for our single table cash games. They arrived about an hour ago and i havent stopped playing with them yet. They are aactually a little chalky to shuffly but i think thats just chipco's in general. They really just feel great and look great and stack really well. I cant wait to play with them.

No clubs Shocked they were one of my favorites... or didn't opt to picture them?

Sweet chips, congrats.

Had a hard time getting the lighting right myself so can't help you there. The pics look good though... a bit large :D

Always love seeing chip pics- thanks for posting!

Great chips Adam, I may have to buy some samples just so I can see them in person!

The grittiness goes away in the first game, I had the same thing with my Egyptians.

Ive said it before and Ill say it again.... Those chips are just amazing!

That's funny! No greens??? I got my 1000 today too, had them sent to work. The best part is that as I was unpacking them a secretary stopped by and her and her husband run a regular game! I've always had chips on my desk, but I guess 1000 chips is a bit more noticeable...

I am jealous because mine were last seen in Colorado on Wed nite. Package tracking is good but the anticipation is brutal. What takes the post office sooooo long???

Well, there are supposed to be here tomorrow so I guess I will try to calm down now.

I was wondering if these Chipco suits have the texture finish or the smooth finish.

I was messing around with a few Chipco Hard Rock chips, I was able to take bits of it off the edges with my fingernail. It seems to me that the ceramics are just a bit soft for me to be able to scrape a few bits off the edge.

Before I bought mine, I slammed my Chipco samples onto my marble floor as HARD AS I COULD three times. On the third time it broke, because it hit flat on the face. The first two times there wasn't a dent or chip. I JUST tried to scrape mine with my fingernails and I cant make a mark.

I got mine too.. they look SOOOO good stacked up. nice to see some big stacks. At anyrate I will take my pictures soon too. but here's a suggestion. Don't use your flash. Sit the camera on a tripod or solid surface. The flash is no good. Then if you can play around with the color in photoshop. I like to use the color balance and curves.

The one guy I play with just got these. I can't tell you how happy I am that he got them. Not because I like the chip, but because it's taken him about 7 months to pick a freaking chip set and he never stops talking about it.

Anyways, the chips are okay. Generic, but not as generic as other ChipCos. Meh, he's getting them tonight and we're going to use them for our tournament. Now that he has them, my chips are going to be obsolete. Anyone want a set of NJ Ceramics?

If you're giving them away, sure! Otherwise post how much and I'm sure someone will be interested.

Not bitter, I just feel like a tard for spending $400 on a set of chips that will never be used.

So we used these last night for our game. They're not. I didn't like the greens at all (too dark), but the rest were fine. I liked the whites the best, personally. The graphics are clearer than on my NJs, though they are less complicated. I liked the edge spots a lot. The ones on mine are all the same, so these were pretty cool.

As for the chip itself, though, I didn't think they stacked that well; they slid off the stack pretty easily if I pressed down on the top chip and tried to move the stack. Whatever material they used for the graphics makes them clearer, but they don't stick together as well as the NJs. They also have a metallic sound to them, which I didn't care for. Maybe that's just how all chipco chips are, I have no idea, they're the first ones I've touched. They're heavier than my NJs, which didn't bother me. I couldn't shuffle them as easily, but they may just need worn in. They were still pretty easy to shuffle, they just got "caught" a lot.

So they didn't make me want to sell my current chips and buy a set of the suits like my boss suggested. But if I didn't have chips I would seriously consider a set of them. If they could do something with the graphics to make the chip look less generic, then I would probably buy a set right now. In any event, I think my boss wants to divorce his wife and marry these chips, so my NJs have started their dust collection today.

Yeah, you'll need those chips sooner or later. I wouldn't dump them. If you do though, give me first dibs! Smile

Especially since the other chips belong to your boss. If you did sell them you could probably get at least half of what you paid.

Chipco's are ceramic so they are going to be a bit more "clanky" then clay. HOwever dont get that clank confused with the 11.5 series. Splash the pot with these, and then the 11.5 Dice chips and you will know a clank. I personally think they stacked very very well, but i come from the 11.5 Dice world, not sure how they stack up agains the NJ Clays but this is still a huge improvement. I did find them a bit hard to shuffle at first, but they wear in quickly. THey have a chalky feel at first that starts to wear in after ust a little use. Keep shuffling the same 8 chips and you will see what i mean.

My NJs are ceramics and they don't have a "clank" sound when I stack them whatsoever. And the Suits do stack well, I agree. But the guy said he could stack them 100 high without them budging, and I find that really hard to believe. I can't even stack mine 100 high without them budging, and the NJ ceramics have a much rougher surface than the Chipcos. It just annoys me when people make posts like this about chips they bought being the greatest chips of all time and making outrageous claims. People may read this and buy the chips (which cost a crapload of money), only to find out that many of the things he said are not true.

These chips are not that great. They're nice, yes, but they aren't that great. I don't think any ceramics are. My NJs certainly aren't. But don't get people to go out and spend $400 on a set of chips and make them find out the hard way you were exaggerating. I would never make a post on here saying everyone should buy NJ ceramics because they're perfect. They have lots of flaws, none of which are fixed by these Suit chips.

I think the bottom line is to get samples of everything first and makeup your own mind. Lots of people do not like ceramics. The suits was the first set of ceramics that I really considered. As long as they're stable in a stack of 20, I'm ok with them. Bud Jones are the best stacking chip, but can't get them yet. The last bud jones auction on ebay went for around 3.50 / chip.
