I'm not sure if this post belongs here so I can whine about it or in General Chat so I can get advice... so I'll let you decide.
Hand 1 (.50/$1 Kill, 10 players):
I have AKo and I'm in seat 4.
Pre-flop: seat 3 folds, I raise to $2, all but two others fold and those 2 call.
Flop: Jc 8d As...I open $1, one folds and one calls
4th Street: Td...I open $2, one call
River: 3s...I open $2, he calls... and wins with two pair Aces and 3s...
Hand 2 (same game as above):
I have AKs
Pre-flop: I raise and I get 3 calls; all else folds.
Flop: Kd 5c Qs...there's an initial bet a call and I call; then one fold.
4th St: 6c... the initial better opens, one folds, and I raise. he re-raises and I call (this may have been my indicator I missed)
River: 7d...he bets and I call
He wins with two pair Kings and 5s.
So I look at Hand1 as a bad beat and Hand2 as "that's the way it goes"... however... I'm asking you all for advice. How do you play AK in these situations. I can see where I may have overplayed hand2, but what about hand1?
thanks
Brian

You were not outplayed in either hand, your luck just took a turn for the worse. Now I do believe in hand2 you should have really thought about it after that reraise. I suppose with the call on the flop he did kind of trap you, but why else would he just wake up all of the sudden and reraise you? Overall, that would be a pretty tough laydown but a great one. Then on the first hand I really have nothing to say...everyone here would bet it down to the river as well, you just got unlucky for him to catch the 3. And why didn't he raise? Ahh, nonetheless you will just LOOOOOVE AK when you flop trips or two-pair or something and win a tournament. AK is unpaired obviously, so do not look at it as straight gold. Keep trying though.
