I host a home game, tournment style. I am thinking of adding a bad beat pot. What is considered a bad beat? to win the pot.
Is it getting beat with Fullhouse or better?

If you are doing a bad beat jackpot the rules are up to you. I know a lot of them will say if you get a full house Queens over Jacks (or something near there) or better beat then it qualifies. Party poker has four of a kind 8's or better beat then it qualifies. I would say stick with the high full house at a home game cuase you would probably have to play for 35 years to see quads cracked. Also you have to make some rules that both players must showdown their hands. Both players must use both of their hole cards. One player can not let the other player know what he has and so forth. But you can make up your own rules.

Also, I've never been in a tourney that had a bad beat jackpot. It's usually just for ring games. I know if I placed 1st in a tourney, I'd be pissed if I got ess money because of a bad beat jackpot.
Seeing as it's a home game though, it could work. Just collect a fee in addition to the tourney entry fee. That way nobody loses money by winning the tournet and if nobody hits the jackpot, it can carry over to next week.

what you could do which would be better, is straight flush pot, in addition to the tourny entry collect money for a side straight flush pot, first one to hit wins.

what about instead of stating a certain hand getting cracked what about doing something with a persons outs.. say for exaple if they have a hand where there's only 1 card in the entire deck that will help them and they somehow catch it on the river they get the pot.. no matter what hand they got?.. this is prob a bad idea.. but it's an idea none the less..
