hello all,
new to this forum and i must say, just from the couple hours of reading, this place is awesome.
Not too good of a poker player but I am fascinated with all the different chips out there.
Just wanted to see how long you guys have been collecting chips for, up to now, my idea of collecting chips was pocketing a $1/$5 chip from the casinos that i've been to. But not, i'm thinkin about starting a collection and building a set.

I've had poker chips since 1994. My first buy was 7g "suited" chips. Just like the weighted dice/suited chips, but light as a feather. Later I supplemented with 9g super diamonds. Those are better chips, and cheaper, but I never liked them because they were a solid color.
I started getting "into" real chips this past summer. Now I have heirloom quality chips, and I love them. Researching chips has been a lot of fun this year.

yeah, I've been researching quite a bit these past couple of days. I never knew there was such a huge population of people out there that were into collecting chips. tons of fun, sure beats collecting yu-gi-oh cards.

I keep 'splaining to my wife that I am NOT collecting chips... that I have all these things for legitmate gaming purposes. Of course I got so many of them that by the time I got the 6th 500 chip case full I thought it prudent to relocate them all to the office...no sense antagonizing her with the sheer size of my non-collection.
Anyway, all this non-collecting of chips has been going on for less the 3 years. I can't imagine what it would be like if I started collecting the things. I'd certainly have to buy a bigger office.
