The part about them costing $1.99 each on the net is not true. These cost .55 cents to make brand new from tr king.

$0.25, $1, and...$500?? LOL what a strange mix of denoms.
As for the $2/chip, I'm sure they're probably referring to this:

I wonder if these are brand new or just the ones that people bought a month or so ago that needed some cleaning.
If it is the ones that were 25 cents a piece, this guy will make a huge profit because he already has 8 bids and a $150 price tag with over a week to go.
This gives me an idea...Nah, I bought some of them and I am very happy with my purchase.

Based on the odd denoms, I'm guessing they're the $0.25 seconds. Oh well - I've said it once and I'll say it again - the masses are asses, especially on eBay - shame on the bidders for not doing their research!

I'd even sell my set if people are willing to pay big $$. I'm not going to do it with false advertising though.
When I emailed Dice702 about that he just said he didn't carry them anymore and to contact tr king.
I have a much better set with 400 $1, 100 .25, 150 $5, 25 $25, 25 $100, 25 $500. Now that I got my suits, I might need to cash these in.

I like mine, but I'm sure I'll end up getting rid of them when I get around to ordering the custom King's Crown I'm looking into.

With a current bid of $150.50 for 600 chips that would have cost $150 plus shipping (or the cost of gas if he drove into LA to pick them up), it doesn't look like he's making a killing on them right now. And given the distribution, it looks like someone who would have gotten them very recently (like in the last week or so). Unless some unknowing idiot goes a bidding frenzy, he's likely to just break even. Especially since the unknowing aren't likely to know about TR King, even though they are the older chip maker of the three that still make clay compression chips. I'm sure that's why he used the 'Paulson style' since there are so many suckers for Paulson chips. But then the .08 cent chips from 5stardeal could even be described as 'Paulson style' LOL.

Yeah, I just didn't like that it suggests they're worth $1.99 each. I'm surprised the auction is up to that much with those odd denoms. Plus I wouldn't consider selling these for a few months until I'm sure the white cast doesn't come back.

Hey slowplay. you already got a design set up? What is the minimum amount you have to order for custom chips from them?

I believe it's 5000 to get the .85 price. I'll probably be doing a buy in the near future. I'm just waiting to see the Paulson home chips.

I plan to use the standard King's Crown Inlay. 5,000 to get the $0.85 price.

Very tempting! Are you going with the same colors and denoms just with double edge spots?
When I brought my suits chips to their first game on Sunday and asked what everyone thought of them, everyone likes them but one guy mentioned he likes the Casbah chips better and someone else agreed. People really seem to like the look and feel of these chips.

Nope - gonna be custom colors w/ double edge spots. Denoms will be standard, I think Dennis said we could have 8 or 9 different chips. They will be close to "traditional" casino colors, as with the new Paulson Isthmus chips. I really like Hoefler's gray chip though, and may incorporate that color combination (or maybe blue) as the $1 chip. If you're interested, send me a PM with your email and I'll add you to the list of interest. We're already up to about 2,600 - over halfway there!

For my money, you just cannot beat the feel/sound of T.R. King for the price. Paulsons are obviously good, but I honestly don't think they are any better - just more expensive. My feeling is, if T.R. King still made chips for Vegas, they would be just as sought-after as Paulsons. The Casbah Clubs are a too plain-looking for my taste - hence why I will be upgrading - but I love the feel and sound of these chips, and everyone I play with agrees. I could NEVER go back to plastic, or even to ceramics, for that matter.

I agree..I bought 500 of the casbah club chips and they beat out any of the samples that I have received. I have buypokerchips.com samples, nevada jack, the casino style 1005 chips, pokerchips.com, james bond, and IMO, none of them feel better than the TR King chips.
These are definately my favorite feeling chips, I also think they are a little plain since I have the casbah club chips, but there is no better deal than 500 TR Kings chips for $125. I would pay a few hundred for completely blank TR King chips if that was all that they had available.
As for that auction, I think a bidding war will start and the seller will make a little bit of a profit...Probably not enough of a profit for the work of cleaning and drying the chips. Maybe a better set-up would have sold for $250+, but not the set-up that he is offering.

so does that mean you want in on the group buy?

If wasn't going to college...DEFINATELY. But, that's not a reality and payments resume next month, so I do not have money to spend on something I don't really need. Yes, I WANT them, but I can't. I'll stick with the Casbah's for awhile and see what happens. I am buying a table tomorrow afternoon for almost $300, so after that, I am buying nothing! Probably not true, but I will try my best.
I am sure they will turn out fantastic and I will be in awe when you post the pictures, though. Don't make them too good to the point that I force myself to order some.
Thanks for the offer
