What DVD's do you all recommend. I bought Wise Guys on Texas hold'em and it was ok but more corny than helpful. I just finished watching Howard Lederer's Poker Tells and it was good but I tried a lot of the advise on that DVD at the local game and I found myself thinking to much and playing tight I ended up losing sooner than before I would play more of a aggresive style.
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com

It seems like most of those poker DVDs are just money making schemes for the guys that are hocking them. The only set out there that I've seen that I'm actually kind of interested in is the one the they have on Cardplayer's website. It's a poker seminar that was held with all sorts of pro speakers.

Yeah I agree with you about the just trying to rip people off. But I really tought that "The Professor" would really show something good. I will check out that DVD. Thanks for the reply

One thing I always tend to think about is "If this guy made a DVD or wrote a book about poker, do I really think he is going to tell me all his secrets?" It would be like KFC posting their secret recipe on the net. He'll give you good advice, but I can't imagine him giving away how he makes his living. I always try to take what I can from the info, but don't shift you're entire strategy because of something you read or saw. Develop your own style and add to it from experience and research, but don't try to just take on someone elses, because I'm sure it must be missing some aspect so he can continue to make a living without being read by everyone who's seen his video. If you go to KFC.com, you can get the secret recipe for the bisquits. Yummy!

I think you hit the nail right on the head bud, I agree with you.

I have no experience with the DVD.
But you what, tried it in one game, and didn't win?
If you said "I played 4000 tournaments, with a 24% return on investment, then after altering my strategy, I only had a ROI of 19% for the next 3000," then this could be a valid complaint.
There is absolutely no way you were thinking too much.
And you were probably nowhere near "too tight," for one. And tight doesn't mean you can't be aggressive.
