Correct me if I'm wrong.. But you do not have to say Raise do you ?
if its 3 to me & I put in 6 .. Is it not the Dealers Job to say "Raise to 6" ?
I just got back from Playing 3/6 at the Taj for the 1st time & I almost never spoke at all, If I was calling I put the call amount in If I was going to raise I put the raise amount in etc... The dealers never said anything to me about it, But I did over hear a player say "I think we should say raise or call or fold "
-Any thoughts Anyone ?

I say it just to be safe. Also, if it's a $2 bet to you and all you have is a $5 chip, if you don't announce your raise, it will be considered a call. So I just got in the habit of saying raise every time.

I usually just quietly put the bet out.
Sometimes I will say it for effect or to see the reaction, or if I am grabbing a stack that should be enough, but I am not sure (dont want to string bet).

I always announce a raise verbally, and I don't place chips in front of me until the dealer has acknowledged it. There have been too many instances I've witnessed where a player says "Raise," but not loudly enough for the dealer to hear him. He ends up making a string bet, and then the players next to the raiser have to vouch for his intentions when the dealer tries to disallow it.
I will announce a call only when I'm forced to use chips with a greater value than the amount of the call, e.g. calling a $10 bet with a $25 chip.
I never announce a fold, other than to toss my cards to the dealer.

I announce a bad beat by overturning the table and beating the crap out of the person who pulled a lucky draw at the river.
Just kidding, even though we all wish we could....LOL

I sometimes say raise but most of the time just put it out. If you dont grab enough chips as long as you put out half the bet I think you are forced to complete the raise, but if you dont want to say it you dont have to at least at the casino i play at. Like Dave said though you can gain info by announcing it and by hearing other players announce their raise.

It depends what limits you play at, in NL you have to say raise and to what amount, mostly in limits, if you put out double the previous bet the dealer should announce raise. Say your playing 5-10, and the bets 10, and you put out 4 red chips its a raise but if u put out 1 green chip its usually a call unless u say raise.
