I was sitting at the 50/100 PL Hold'em table at the Bellagio and I was looking at the chips. I turned to the guy next to me and I say "I have a better set of chips at home." He asks me what kind of chips I have and I tell him I own a 1500 chipset of Vineyard Paulsons. He looks back at me and smiles and says "I sell those chips."
It turns out it was "Paulsonchips" sitting next to me this whole time. What a coincidence! From what he tells me he was hanging out in Vegas for a couple of days before he goes on his Xmas cruise.
He ended up taking me for about 3 grand and another 8 grand from the others. He is a madman. He was very nice to treat me to the "Prime Steakhouse" at the Bellagio and footed the 300.00 tab! (I guess he better since he took me for ten times that amount!)
Just thought it was a cool story........

That's a VERY cool story. You guys are way too much for me, I can't afford quite yet to sit down at a table that high. That is some serious cash flowing around there. By the way, what chips were they using and of course, how was that steak?

The steak was GREAT! It got a 28 (out of 30) in Zaggat's review.
Phil's a great guy. We talked for a long time and he even gave me a set of the Palmas Paulson Tournament chips! (500) He had over 5000 in his car (Nice Porsche BTW), I guess he has contacts at the Palms, even though he was staying at the Bellagio (TRAITOR!).
He didnt give me a discount on the Vineyards because I bought some from him about 3 months ago.
I emailed him this thread but I guess he's still on vacation. (He mentioned a Xmas Carribean cruise)
He got comp'd "O" tickets and handed them to me. ($400 value!) Best show I have ever seen by the way. I guess he felt really bad for taking me for all that money.
I saw him the next night sitting at the 300/600 table with mounds and mounds of chips in front of him, I couldn't get a closer look because the security said it was an "invited only" game.  But from far away it looks like he was cleanining up! He saw me and waived to me and pointed to his chips.
He took a break and took me to dinner again at the cafe and I was asking him about how he did it, and he tells me "I don't know, I'm not a gambler..."
I am going to sleep now in the city of sin and going to head back to Washington tommorrow. This was certainly an experience....

Thanks for the kind words. I am on the boat right now and its costing me 2.00 a minute on this internet! So I have to make this short.
I ended up taking out 72K from the High rollers table. Thats BEFORE taxes....... So who knows how much they are going to take out!
I am really not a gambler, I play not for money but for fun. And its no fun unless you're sitting there sweating on a bet. And at 300/600, MAN DO YOU SWEAT!
It really was a nice experience playing with you! and Greg, HUSH HUSH on the Palms chips! You're gonna get me in trouble!!!!!!!!
I am down 800 bucks on the BJ table on the boat, I HATE BLACKJACK! My mind can't keep up with the dealer flippin the cards so fast!
I signed up for the 10,000 Hold'em tourney later tonight, and I dont think there are too many people on the boat that are real card players, but who knows, maybe a string of bad beats will leave me out with nothing!
Oh and the reason that I stay at the Bellagio is because its a much better hotel than the Palms, (Im not into the club scene) and I get a suite here too overlooking the watershow w a jacuzzi and such. This is my favorite hotel by far, and I get comp'ed here too!
Well, gotta go, its been 4 minutes already 8 bucks!

Yea, I very jealous too indeed. To even deepen the jealously factor, he had the keys of his Porshce on a Ferrari keychain that said "F430" and I asked him what F430 stood for and why he had it on a Porche key. He told me that F430 is the NEW Ferrari thats coming out and the dealer gave him that keychain when he put his deposit on it!!! (He offered to house me in his home if I were to ever come down to CA!)
His porsche isnt just any old porsche either, it was a 2004 GT2 with 18 inch wheels and Porche's aero kit! It was amazing!

I guess its pretty funny about the $8 thing. Im back on again! Another 2 bucks a minute. I dont mind paying for things, but just not when its a complete ripoff or a waste. Like I get so annoyed when my wife leaves all the house lights on when she's sleeping! Drives me nuts!
As in investment banker, I guess I am taught to penny pinch.
I am in the carribean and I have a lot of oppurtunities to get some REAL CASINO chips. There is no law here about chip regulations. But I think I may be done with this whole side business when Im out of the Vineyards.
Its way too much work, answering emails everyday and such. I started it because I thought it would be fun, and it was, and met some really cool people. Still thinking about it.......
For anyone who wants to start thier own RETIRED Casino chip thing, go to the carribean and talk to the managers at the casinos. You can generally get chips for about .20 each. But you wont find Paulsons here. Generally just Bud Jones or other unknown makers.
As for the damage done on the shopping...... 8K and counting! X_X
I ended up getting 5th place on the tourney and the prize? A Tshirt, a hat, a robe, and a gym bag. WHOOO HOOOO! Tourneys are a bit harder because people dont see it as real money, so you cant keep reraising to buy the pot. (Works real well in 300/600 PL  )
Im also down another 300 on the BJ Table. No more of that for me. Consider it a sunk cost and let it be. There is ANOTHER 7 card stud tourney for 10K in 2 days and I get free entry so wish me luck on that one!
And Greg, the offer is still good if you are up for it. Let me know whenever you come down to CA, I will show you and your wife around Los Angeles! We have 3 guest rooms so feel free to bring a friend.

I just paid $100 bucks for an "unlimited card" from the cruiseline, now I can be on FOREVER! I dont know why I even came on vacation.
Im down another 500.00 on BJ. I just cant give in!!!! My mind is like sludge, I have to slow down and quite being pressured by the dealer.
Unlike poker, you actually have to have the cards to win!
Webmaster, its a 10K prize pool. It was 200.00 bucks to play with 100 players. There was a waiting list this year, 2 years ago they were begging you to play!
Im going to stop by Vegas again on the way back and try to catch the "O" show. Anyone want anything from Vegas? Chips? Just cover the paypal fees and shipping and packaging costs. Let me know within 24 hours because I dont think Im going to be on much more, we are going to hit the fun islands now and there are going to be so many activities!
Someone asked about the chips at the Bellagio. They are made by Blue Chip. They are very nice though, ALL the centers are DEAD on. I bought 1000 $1 chips from the MGM Grand to use in my home games. I love the design of those chips!

They are made by Paulson and do not have any edge spots. They have the palms logo and denominations on one side, and on the other it says "Hold'em Tournament June 19,2004" They are really bright and really nice. I would NEVER sell these. They are the same quality as the Vineyards I would say. I was looking on Ebay and they were going for about 5-9 dollars per chip WOW.

They do look quite nice but there were hardly any activity on the sales of those on Ebay. I've looked. They're not worth $5-9 per chip let alone $3.

No luck again on the tournament. I did however score a Cruise Picture Frame. X_X (7th Place)

Hey Paulson, my brother is heading donw that way in about a week. You have any specific locations he should try? He doesn't know anything about poker chips, so I would have to tell him specifically. I would really love to get my hands on some chips for that price you mentioned. I appreciate the information.

There is probably a casino on EVERY ISLAND that is there. Just have them ask the pit boss about thier old chips. They probably have large inventories of them. Sometimes they sell the entire sets in thier gift shops.
But they are mostly unknown chips. Few are bud jones and rarely paulsons.

Hey guys,
I'd recommend playing 2 hands in Blackjack, as well as the "match the dealer" option if they have it and it pays well (most times a non-suited match is 4-1, a suited is 8-1, one of each is 14-1 and both suited is 20-1, and you WILL hit it enough to pay).
With 2 hands you will many times win one and lose the other, breaking even, but you get paid twice on a dealer break and you have many more opportunities to to double down as well.
I started playing 2 handed and I almost never lose with this strategy.

I got about a little under 6000 chips. The Palms are not selling these. I had a contact that was able to get me these. Since these are technically NCV chips, it wasnt against the law.
I gave most of them away as gifts, I am down to my rounded 2000 chipset.

I never ended up going to Bora Bora, its postponed until March. I was diverted in an effort to volunteer for the disaster effort instead.
And about the Ferrari f430, they pushed the delivery date back to Late May, I just might take my deposit back, I have my eyes set on a Bentley Continental GT........
