Look good! Edge spots are a too plain IMO.

Nice chips....The picture on them looks very nice and the star-type background looks good.

The colors look weird, kind of dull, on the side of the stacks..maybe it is the picture. The edge spots would be to plain for me also, but some like it plain.

Nice chips

Nice! 7 Colors should give you lots of flex for cash and tourney. What company did you go through to get them done?

Posted Thu Dec 23, 2004 12:27 pm GMT by HELO
I designed the chip, and Lee from cardroomsupply.com went straight to chipco. He and I will be doing 2 or 3 more sets soon. Ill keep you guys posted. We also are going to be doing custom chipco sets as well as some original clay designs.

this is why chipco's rock.

you cant get graphics like that on a clay..

Posted Thu Dec 23, 2004 2:14 pm GMT by slowplayray
I recall this design from recently here - how did you get them so damn fast??

Posted Thu Dec 23, 2004 2:42 pm GMT by PanthersHUTCH15
SlowPlayRay....I was just thinking the exact same thing. I knew I had seen that design somewhere before and it was in the huge thread where everyone was thinking of ideas and names for a group buy...about a month ago if I remember correct...

I have never done a custom set before, but that seems very fast.

Cool! Congrats.

Very 70s Mexican. Cool. They are a little pale looking like they have been around since then but I think that fits the theme.

its obvious that this is a photoshop mock up of what the chips will look like. man some people are so gullable. anyways, nice chips! edges arent good but inlay looks suberb! the award for best edges i have ever seen on a chipco still goes to the Crystal Oysters hands down.

Posted Thu Dec 23, 2004 9:40 pm GMT by HELO
Actually those are pictures of the chips, I guess they did get made fast. Chipco was really great to work with. Thanks for all your feedback.

I was gonna say, whoever made the picture with photoshop did a hell of a job..spoke too soon, eh?? Smile

It may be Photoshop, but they're selling them. You can get 7 samples for $12.

Thanks for your help HELO, I just bought a 500 of Desperado chip set from Lee. Nice guy!

Im not too into chipcos, but I like this design! Good job!
This will be my 5th set of chipcos. Most of my sets are Paulson chips.

Nice job Helo. They are kind of as another poster put "70's Mexican cool". It's nice to see your work come to fruition and I could definitely see a market for those chips.

Kudos aside here's my straight feedback and take in account tastes very and I do like the design. More just food for thought since you mentioned possibly doing a few more sets.

I think the edge spots could be much much better. With your design you could have varied the edge spots & styles similar to the way Crystal Oysters vary.

The colors at least from the pics seem too pastelish for me.

The denoms don't stand out but this may have been your intent.

I like the pancho villa graphic but I don't like the all black graphic overlay though the pointed star background is good.

The $5 chip doesn't appear to contrast as well as the $1 chip does.

Sometimes simple is better but it just seems a little plain for me... not quite sure if that's the right word... for example the Apache chips don't give me the same impression as these chips do and I think they are plain... might just be a first impression and I'm sure seeing the chips in person would help alleviate that... could be why I made the all black graphic overlay comment??

Certainly don't mean to be critical but rather thought this kind of feedback could be more useful. Definitely like to see your future designs.

Thanks for posting & good luck,
Fins

I Agree about the Edge spots, but let me tell you after playing with them - It bothers me much less. The reason I went with the simple edge spots is because I really wanted no edge spots, but in talking to others I decided they needed somthing. So they are simple. - They stack awesome, I was able to stack 100 no problem. Thanks for your creative criticism. Hopefully I will have a tourniment set with no denom out soon as well as a clay set that i think you all are going to really dig. - Ill keep you updated!!!

Don't take this the wrong way, cuz i love your design. But it bothers me a bit that there is so much talk devoted to these chips when they are a retail chip, when they haven't been offered to members of the board. Its a litlle spam like. Just wanted to throw that out there. I really believe you were just loooking for comments on your design. But who knows? At any rate, I would love to see what your thinking about for clays.

Spam or no spam, I am glad HELO posted this beacuse otherwise I would not of known about this design and would not of purchased a set.

They really should start a thread for people to sell thier stuff!

I came up with it, I threw the design out there months ago to see if we could get a group buy going. That never happened. Thats how i met up with the on-line store where they are now. Ill say just what i said back then, If Anyone on this forum wants to do a group buy or even a custom set, Ill design it for you, if you want. As far as spam..... <PLEASE>

I just got my 500 chipset of the Desperados in! They look GREAT. I am very happy with this set. I am not a fan of Chipcos but these are probably my favorite so far.

I know Chipco is chipco and they are all the same, but the edges feel different because of the color and texture seems to differ, its really hard to describe!

They look much better in person too.

Lee told me that there is going to be a Clay version of this coming out soon too!
