In my (not so long, so far) carreer at online Poker, i've met several guys really getting mad after a bad beat. They start cussing and calling names etc. when another player (indeed, maybe a beginner, but who cares...) called to the river and won because of a very lucky catch!
"Top Players will hate you if you play like this" .. etc. etc.
My opinion.. on the long run this players will lose 'm all.. so why getting mad.
I do see forward to any comments on this!
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? No, they won't, they'll love you.
It's hard to say if you should have folded or not, since there you didn't give any examples. But anyone who resorts to name calling after a bad beat is probably not a 'top player'. A 'top player' understands that for ever $1 that is sucked out of them $1.05 is profited.
Some people just don't understand what 'pots odds, bet odds, and implied odds' are and will b*tch you out for making a bad play even though you didn't. I've been yelled at for making a flush after flopping a four flush. The guy I was up against had pocket 2s and flopped his set. He accused me of having bad pot odds even though my pot odds were excellent the entire way. I politely explained...no wait, not politely...but explained to him what pot odds were, why I had them, and why he should shut-up. I didn't hear anything from him after that.
On the flip side if you're getting cursed at everytime you win a pot you're probably making some bad calls. Stop making bad calls, if you are. Not for the sake of others, but for the sake of your bankroll. If you don't know what a bad call is read up on 'pots odds, bet odds, and implied odds'.

Thanks for ur wise words, suitedAA.
Happily it wasn't me all the time being cussed at
I only *once* got caught so far betting on very bad cards, that was enough a lesson for me.
And no, i'm not an expert at pot odds and implied odds yet, but counting "outs" is a favorite hobby for me. According to my records, I've made a $ 0.34 per hour profit in 2004.
So I played, learned much, had fun, nearly for free.
C ya around!
