When do you call it a day?

Hi all! Im new to this Online poker thing as to that ive only played for about a month. The first weeks i played at .25-.50 without winning or loosing any significant ammount.

But during the last week ive raised my 40 bucks to 200, just to see it fall to 0 again, this on $1-2 tables.
I consider myself a pretty tight player, only betting/raising when my hand+the flop has given me a good hand. Yet still i managed to loose it all.

Lookin back i see that my biggest mistake must have been to continue playing each night, even though i could have 3 hours of not a single paying hand behind me. So now ive deposited another 40 bucks and are back at the .25-.50 tables...Ive read several guides and strategies at the internet and my hopes are that i will, at least, not loose all my money within a few weeks.

But my question is, how do you limit your losses if you catch a loosing streak? Im thinking, if i loose half my current stack, ive quit for the evening. Is this a good way of limiting it?

your playing at too high a level
also - it sounds as if your taking all your bankroll to the table. This isnt advisable.

Take 10% of your bankroll to the table at most (i found this out the hard way as well mate)

I think you need to look at why you are losing. Are you making mistakes? Are you catching bad beats as a favorite? Are you missing bets, calling bad hands? Are you being outclassed?

I have gone DEEP into a whole when really bad players were making really bad plays only to come back and end up on the night. Those are the late nights that I cannot walk away from, when I know I own the table but the cards just arent running right.

yeah ive been trying to figure out how it ended like it did...I have far to little experience to actually be able to make anything out of it but as far as ive can see, the only big mistake ive done is (aside from playing on to high table) that i dont stop playing, even after loosing like 40 bucks straight without a single win.

I dont risk much to see the flop, unless im on the big cards, and if the flop aint giving me a good hand, i fold aswell...So im not reckless.

Guess i just suck, hehe =)
