Im fairly new to playing online poker and was wondering if someone can clarify some tournament types for me because I don't want to enter something when I dont know what Im getting into. I saw tournaments listed as "freeze out" "speed tournament" and "sit and go" If anyone can explain these Id appreciate it. Thanks
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com

freeze out : A table-stakes game that continues until a small number of players (possibly only one) has all the money.
speed tournament : basically the blinds go up very quickly which means luck has a bigger part to play (compared to regular speed tourneys)
sit and go : everyone pays the same to enter the tourney and then everyone gets an equal number of chips. Last man standing wins
hope this helps

The reason Sit & Gos are called that is that they start when the requsite number of entrants are present. Other tourneys may start at a specific time.

yes, but no matter the tournament type its all played the same way, right?
goal= keep chips in front of you.
so you wouldn't be jumpin in over your head. correct? its nothing like a must move table.
but fonzi, thanks for you explos. goes to show you learn somethin new every day
