Nexgen, 12g chips - where can I get free/cheap samples? |

I'd like to examine some of these so I can decide if I need to change my recommended "cheap chip" from the 13g "casino" chips:
I'd like to get free samples from someone, or at least dirt cheap. I'd need at least two chips so I can feel how they adhere to one another.
These are the ones I'm talking about:

.26/pc. at 5star w/25% off, you can get 10 chips for 6 bucks shipped. You only save a buck fitty if you just order two.
I'd send you some of mine, but I'd want them back... seems to me the 5star thing is a better deal.

You're right ... $8 chipped, and I got 17 chips. There were others I wanted to see too, like the Bond and the Desert Sands. I'm such a cheapskate. This was easy as pie since I've ordered from them several times already.

Does anyone have any opinions on these chips? They look interesting for a cheap option.

I've handled these chips at a local store. They're a little slippery, but I was handling clay and Nevada Jacks chips just before handling these. They do seem to have less surface cohesion than the 13g Casino chips. Soundwise, they sound very good, just like the Casino's, almost no metallic sound from the metal slug. The outer ring of the chip is textured to simulate the linen finish that is used on the higher end, and casino grade chips. The recessed area is just a tad over an inch and sufficiently deep to accommodate a good quality 1" vinyl label with just enough of a tolerence to give you a little wiggle room in case you don't get the label centered perfectly. Unlike the 13g Casino chips, the Nexgens are sized properly and a stack of 20 fits easily in to a standard chip rack. The edgespots are uneven to simulate the kind of edge spots that you would encounter in compression manufactured casino grade chips, and the edge design is rather attractive. One noticable and appealing factor with the edge spots is that they vary with each chip color rather than all being one color like the other China imports.
If you order from 5star, you can get the best pricing on the 10-8000s by order in multiples of 300 chip sets ($60 per set after the 25% coupon), than with any other size set pricing (breaking it down to a cost per chip including the case.) Plus you end up with more worthless used/mutilated cards thrown out by casinos, and more useless rounded dice. You also end up with 300 chip cases (my preference) rather than the 500/600/1000 chip cases that seem to break so easily from the weight of the chips.
I'm still pondering the purchase of a set of these myself for a personalized tourney set where I'll use 60 lb vinyl labels on them for the inlay.

I like mine. These have been pretty thoroughly discussed over the past year, search for "Nexgen" to see the old threads.

I bought 2000 Nexgen Las Vegas chips for tourneys and everyone loves em'. I got a hell of a deal on em when they first came out 300 bucks for 2000 off ebay. I am also thinkin of personalizing them with some vinyl labels but that will be alot of work on 2000 chips. I recommend them for a cheap decent chip.

I had a sample of one of these from Nevada Jack's and thought they felt the best of all of the plastic chips in the bunch.
