So i've bought a set of 400 chips from thepokerchipco and now I'm trying to find a good case. I returned the one that thepokerchipco carries because it's too long, and the chips move too much with the case closed.
I bought one of these cases, but i have to JAM 61 chips into each of the long rows and 15 into each small row...leaving me 4 stranded chips. I like the dimensions of the case more, and the chips move less but the buckles are cheap (to be expected) and the slot to place a pack of cards is very tight. Plus the distribution of chip colors in each row is just odd.
I found another case that looks promising. Anyone have thoughts on this case, or any other cheap aluminum cases?
Btw, how tall should a standard stack of 50 chips measure?

I didn't want to dig out a micrometer, but I can tell you that a stack of 50 standard-spec casino chips should measure almost exactly 6 1/2".

Have you thought about a chip carrier, like the casinos use? When the security guards come and fill a blackjack table with racks of chips, it's really cool.
They're made for 1000 chips (10 racks), but you could put 500 or more in there and have some room for cards, buttons, etc. (And I've seen some 600 and 800 once in a while.)
I see them on eBay (search Casino-Chips for "carrier"), and the prices can be reasonable as long as you're ready for the high shipping charges. But if you can wait out a cheap auction, the price + shipping is still good. Most of them include 10 chip racks, too! Here's an example:

The carriers will be more expensive (maybe $60 total, with racks) than cheap cases, but you'd get a real casino look and feel.

Well, the problem with the acrylic cases is that A) I only have 400 chips and B) They're don't securely hold the chips in like an aluminum case.

Yeah, dat's right. Nevermind.
Your proposed case looks pretty good, actually.
See ya.

My stacks of 50 Paulson chips are exactly 6 3/8 inches high.

I have 3 of the Elite 550 cases. They're excelent for the price! The handle is sturdy and soft/comfortable to carry. The clasps are also good quality + it has a lifetime guarantee. That black case looks decent though. I looked on ebay for myself, but need one that holds at least 500.
Even though you only have 400, get the 550 elite since it's only like $2 more. That way you can get 150 more chips later.
